Late billing
Apologies if this is the wrong forum. My mother in law has just been billed a call out charge for work to her stair lift over a year and a half after the work was done, she didn't have to pay for parts and labour just the call out, does she have to pay as it's a mistake on the repairers part.

Hi I ordered a steam cleaner from an online company on 6th Dec, I received an email confirming my order straight away. A few days later I received another email stating that the product had become temp out of stock, but that my order would be despatched after 18th Dec. I replied stating I was happy to wait until that date.…

Faulty Replacement Double Glazing Units
I'll try to keep this brief! I had 4 failed double glazing units that needed replacing, I had them replaced by a local tradesman and about a week later when it rained one of them started leaking in he came back and siliconed it (making a mess to be honest!) and he blamed my UPVC windows. 6 months later and with the wind…

Clarification on new Tobacco Licensing LAws
Hi, I have an enquiry I wonder if anyone can help with. I realise it is more of a trading legislation query rather than financial but I emailed my local council Trading Standards and they weirdly referred me to Citizens Advice? Which is odd o.O I hoped someone here might have the necessary expertise. Please note this…

My clothes burned at the laundrette
Hi, I need advice. My flatmate took our laundry to the local laundry shop, left it over night, asking the stuff if they can dry it for her, and when she returned to pick it up next morning, the owner told her there was the fire in the shop and our clothes are burned. We calculated and approximate lost was over £480. She…

After spending £300 I would expect something to last more than…

Faulty boots
I bought a pair of long boots in November, wore them a handful of times, now I've found a hole at the back just above the heel, with the insides of the boots now coming through. Have I had them too long to expect the store to do anything about them, even though they've not been worn often it's still 2 months? Just want to…

laser eye surgery regression..
So, I had laser eye surgery almost 4 years ago now. When I had it done, they rushed everything through, and I had an awful experience with it. I was in absolute agony, down at my local a&e, having panic attacks (which I have never suffered from before and haven't since). My sight has become worse and worse since the…

Exploding lamp - damaged carpet
I recently purchased a 4 spot Halogen light fitting from B&Q. 2 days after installing it, 1 of the halogen spots exploded, showering the room with tiny shards of very hot glass. Luckily my son had only just left the room, so nobody was hurt. However, the hot glass has caused several burn marks to the carpet. Are B&Q liable…

Query: "Short Date" and "Out of Date"
Anyone have the correct definitions of the above descriptions? I understood "Short Date" to mean the items were close (sometimes next day) to their best by or best before dates and that "out of date" to mean the item was past those dates, i.e. if you want to take a chance on out of date foodstuffs....it's your choice…
