Hello, be very glad if someone could give some advice.
I bought some furniture from next online directory.
Made my first payment and got a statement with service charge on. Googled it and saw the explanation on the next website. Ok fair enough I didn't read the service charge info. My mistake.
Now I phoned up to query something else on my statement. They explain it all and they then say they will be charging every month a service charge. I understand and comment about the fact that I also shop with Argos and they allow me to spread payments in a interest free period.
She then said "oh you can do that but not online".
Apparently it's hidden away on the website that you can spread the cost of furniture items bought interest free if it's bought in store.
Obviously they don't like to advertise the fact as they like to charge you a service charge and penalise you for not noticing it hidden in a link amongst several other links.
So I've asked the nice lady do you think it's fair that option was not given to me whilst buying online?
She agreed it wasn't fair and customers should be informed of this option whether you shop online or in the store.
As nice as she was she couldn't help any further with spreading my costs as I had placed the order online, despite me saying I did not know of any interest free period and ordering in store as it's not evident on the site!
She kindly pointed out the complaints procedure, I've lodged a complaint and waiting to hear what can be done as I've spent a quite bit on their furniture
Any help on whether I have a leg to stand on would be greatly appreciated.

It's not uncommon for stores to have different terms when selling online and instore.
A number of stores have different prices too.
So often online and instore are run as two separate businesses.0 -

I'm not sure the 'interest free' offer is 'well hidden'
My local Next Home Store and mainline store have 10 foot posters in the window advertising the interest free offer
Also pretty clear in the FAQ's here thats its instore only

mrs223...Next T&C's state they are unable to change payment date at present. Likely a limitation on their system
