How to change tariff mid fix?
I am on a 18 month fixed tariff with eon,I was just coming to the end of one, It was before the drops had been announced, it was set up just as various wars looked as though they could get worse. So took the gamble and for the first three months they were lower than the first increase. But now with two successive decreases…

Credit Balances Eon
Why is it so hard to get refunds for credit balances promptly? Eon make you wait 10 working days and then put up your monthly DD. This is just wrong and the regulators should stop energy companies from doing this.

Fix Energy Tariff now or wait?
Hi all, I'm now eligible to change energy tariff/supplier. I'm currently with So Energy but the tariff's they are quoting are higher than elsewhere. So far OVO are working out best for me, with GB coming in slightly behind them. Is it worth switching now and fixing or waiting till the nearer the new price cap in July and…

British Gas credit use (cost + debt), had enough for 4 years so considering court action.
Hi GAS ONLY METER WITH BRITISH GAS. I'll try and keep it brief and my issue has been ongoing for 4 years and there is a lot that has happened in terms of communication. I had some medical conditions from the end of 2018 and was incapable of work etc (I have threads on here for these) and built up a debt of approx £1,550…

Is my COMMERCIAL landlord ripping me off regarding business electricity charges
I have a shop with a sub-meter. I'm a small business and my usage is on average about 800kWh/month. My landlord has a contract with Scottish Power and he charges me 49p/kWh. This is the price including the standing charge. He's not provided the breakdown of standing charge and pence per kWh. Back when electricity prices…

Battery Storage to bring down energy costs
So just if anyone is interested we bought a couple of ecoflow 2kwh powerstations on special offer ans got two refurbished direct from ecoflow for £630. An absolute bargain. Been enjoying charging these up on cheap Agile slots and running the outdoor tumbbledryer, gym and office on these. So we aren't necessarily going to…

Can’t see Octopus Tariff
Noted this in weekly MSE email but can’t see on Octopus Website. Switched last moth to current Fix after leaving customer Feb fix as marginally cheaper. Appreciate that they make it extremely hard to switch without calling but this one isn’t on their website at all.

Octopus Energy billing issues
I was moved over to Octopus Energy from Shell in February. I am on a fixed tariff with monthly billing but Octopus seem incapable of billing when they should. In 3 months I’ve been billed 10 times, ranging from usage for 1 day up to 6 weeks. The billing also includes estimated bills even though I’m on a smart meter. I have…

On THTC tariff but don't use it. Stalemate with Ovo,
We originally had storage heaters when we bought the property (2017)and 2 electricity meters, We had gas installed but the 2 electricity meters were left and we were kept on a THTC tariff for our electricity. I occasionally asked SSE why the 2nd meter was left and we had to provide a reading when it was never used (still…

Octopus Tracker
I just wondered about people's experiences with this tariff and whether they feel they are winners or losers. I got a quote from them yesterday, and I have to say I find the numbers highly misleading. The figures are very attractive, beating even the good fixed rate tariff I got from Avro, but presumably based on an…

Storage heater, panel heater decision
Hi everyone, we live in a flat I own. 2 bed - floorplan shown below. Situation Ancient storage heaters, lose heat my mid afternoon, even on max input, min output. Proposed Solution Storage heater being moved to point 4 where we sit as larder units are being fitted at point 3 for extra storage. We've been told we need a…

British Gas - Pay your incorrect bill or get a black mark on your credit record!
Dual bill, gas correct electricity estimate wrong - there was a number after a decimal point, which my meter doesn't have (ignoring correct reading submitted on time). I paid the gas part of the bill and asked for a corrected electricity bill. Months later (I had transferred to UW) still no corrected bill, still showing…

Is there a danger in estimated readings when on a fixed rate?
Yes I know the standard line is to always supply readings but let's put that aside. I've recently switched provider and unbeknownst to me they can't take readings via a smart meter as the previous supplier had. So they have asked that I give them monthly readings to keep things accurate. Completely sensible. But. To give…

Direct Savings cavity wall insulation
Hi I recently went through Eon for the free energy survey/works. I’ve been approved for cavity wall insulation but I’m concerned about the quality of the work after reading horror stories. Has anyone had any experience of Direct Savings who are based in Livingston in Scotland and can share their thoughts please.

British Gas won't accept complaint
Last year I had a complaint with British Gas over their provision of my services and delays in having meters working correctly. This was resolved via the ombudsman and all has been well since October. I am on the EV tariff with cheap electric midnight to 5am. My January bill shows 0 overnight usage. I have been charging my…

It's worth reviewing your energy bills
I notice this came up in the MSE email this week, but I've managed to get my gas and electricity direct debits from a total of almost £236 monthly in March to £126.01, (so, over £100 a month and I've been refunded £651!!!! I wish I'd done it sooner - it could have been a big dent in last year's credit card bills and the…

EDF Energy Feed in Tariffs - We are making some changes
For the last 14 years or so, every 3 months I receive an email reminder from EDF to provide a solar meter reading for the purpose of receiving my FIT payment. Last week, I received an email purportedly from EDF with the subject header "We're making some changes". This email which is not addressed to me by name, unlike all…

Smart Meters
We have we have had multiple Eon visits to our smart meters as they say they are not working. When they come they say they are working and even check with their HQ to confirm readings are being received. But within days we get feedback to say the meter is not responding. At one stage they stated that the fault was at their…
