Obscured Road Signs
I was just looking on Google Streetview to check a route and I came across this sign which is pretty much unusable. It's from 2025 so I have no idea if it's clear now but going back over previous years it seems to often be covered. Are there any major signs known of that are even worse?

Ford assist Problem
Hi, Everyone. Really hoping for some help please. We have FordAssist breakdown cover and yesterday they let us down badly. We broke down on A303 and phoned FordAssist. No mechanic came out at any stage. After some hours they sent a tow truck which took us to Salisbury, opposite direction to our travel and we were left…

Buying a used car with no V5??
Newbie here so please be gentle! I have found a car we like the look of from a small dealership. Price good, test drive all good. The MOT from May showed an advisory on the tyre tread, so the dealership agreed to change the tyre and service the car before sale as well as fixing an alloy that was grazed. Car passed the…

Insurance renewal question
Aviva just quoted me £398 for my renewal. Out of curiosity I went to their website as a new enquiry and the quote was £205 How do they justify such differences and how do they expect customer loyalty with that?

How do you know if DVLA sent you a fine?
Hi, I live in a block of flats where post gets hurled thru' the letter box and then dumped on top of the mail boxes. Often someone just chucks away a pile of it. Mail can easily be missed. How can you find out if you have any outstanding fines with DVLA? The following says how the roads are getting more fine-hungry…

Yoga car insurance - Dont renew
Just sorting my wifes renewal and Yoga price was £237, up from £209 last year. next best was £213 with MSM. I had zero intention of renewing with them unless they were the cheapest by a reasonable amount as we had the misfortune to have to make a no fault claim, (still waiting on admrial, third third party insurer to cough…

mot query
How do brake pads get checked/measured for MOT? My 2018 golf failed on worn pads below 1.5mm so it's been of the road a few days until I had time to get spares and fit them. Having replaced the pads none are excessively worn with a minimum of 5mm of braking material left and all evenly worn. I would hope it a mistake by…

Nanopolix!
I've just seen this on youtube. It looks fantastic! A normal looking microfibre cloth that you just wave over scratches and they disappear like A.I. generated video magic! They even tried it on a car with a rip & dent in the metal and the panel looked like brand new with just one wipe. Clearly we are being fleeced by…

Received text to contact Capital Resolve for fine I have already paid
Ok so I have always paid my Car tax religiously but the last few years because of poor health I haven't been using it much and it kept breaking down when I did. When my car tax came up for beginning of April 2026 I just naively thought it would just expire and that would be the end of it. I had moved a number of times and…

Hyundai electric window problem
Hi My 2012 Hyunda i30 Comfort 1.6 estate has an annoying problem with the electric windows. Particularly with the front passenger side. The door switch lowers the window fine but doesn't raise it. The driver's side master switch is also faulty. Both near side window switches on the unit only lower the two nearside windows.…

Car insurance - DOC
I've been getting quotes ahead of renewal in 3 wks. One aspect the aggregators are silent on is the issue of DOC cover. I'm spending a lot of time unnecessarily completing proposals only to find out the policy quoted may not be suitable. Any ideas which companies offer DOC as standard?

Need advice: Issue with my previous car insurer regarding NCD
Hi everyone, I'm having a bit of a problem with my previous car insurance provider. When I bought my car insurance back in 2024, I used price comparison websites. Unfortunately, the old details on my profile, such as my No Claims Discount (NCD) years, remained unchanged. Silly me assumed that this information just updates…

Seat Ateca Power Tailgate Strut Replacement – DIY doable?
Hi The electric boot on my 2017 SEAT Ateca Xcellence has started playing up—it refuses to close properly and gives off error beeps when triggered. I’m looking to avoid dealership prices and replace the electric actuators myself. I’ve spotted matching pairs on eBay under part numbers 575827851A and 575827852A (for the KH7…

Has anyone noticed MOT advisories seem to be getting longer?
Had my car's MOT this week and it passed, but the advisory list was much longer than I'd expected. Nothing major, but it got me wondering whether testers are just being more thorough these days. Has anyone else noticed this, or have I just been lucky in previous years? Also, do you tend to get advisories sorted straight…

PCP question.
I've never leased or PCP'd a car, I've always bought outright. I'm now in my sixties. The brand of car I've always wanted I would never "buy" as they have shocking depreciation, the interiors don't "wear" well and have I would say moderate reliability issues. The car brand in question is Alfa Romeo, and they (in my…

Is it ok to buy Ex-Taxi from Toyota main dealer
If I buy a Corolla Touring Sports 2019 at a main Toyota dealership, does it matter if it’s an ex-taxi? The car is under 10 years old and under 100k miles, so should be under warranty.

18 Year Old Doing 34 in a 30 stretch caught twice on cameras within 8 mins apart.
My Nephew has had 2 fines for speeding in a 30 zone (he was doing 34). The cameras caught him twice within 8 mins apart. He set up a payment plan for his first offence and accepted the points (thinking it was over with). He now has another fine and potentially more points. Will he loose his licence as he hasnt been driving…
