Black Horse
Hi Newbie here 😎
Received an email to confirm DCA in October 2025 for purchase of car in 2007 and 2018.
Received a letter a week ago from Black Horse stating that I’m not entitled to any compensation, with information to complain to Ombudsman.
where to next, thank you

What reason did they give?
Having DCA doesn't have to mean you are due anything.

Per the MSE guide, it only covers 6th April 2007 onwards, your Black Horse one states it was 31st January 2007 which is clearly before that
If your other one was not affected by DCA there is no complaint
Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:
People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

you are outside of the FCA’s period for their redress scheme, black horse are correct, you aren’t owed any money

As mentioned, the 2007 one is before the changes in the consumer credit act. But neither of those confirm DCA. They just state the commission.
Whilst Black Horse are responsible, if the finance was arranged under the car manufacturer's name, with Black Horse acting as the lender under that name, then a complaint on that basis should fail.
