Diesel Scrappage Scheme
Hi all, new member and this is my first post. Bit of a long one but I am looking for some quite specific advice or signposting to somewhere that may hold the correct information. Long story short, I bought an Audi on finance years ago and traded my old car in under the diesel scrappage scheme, brilliant. This allowed me to…

Anyone used a car insurance broker?
I thought my insurance was due to run out next month; but checked and ends in 2 months. Was wondering why I wasn't getting any renewal letters or emails. I thought I would check anyway to see how much I would get on average if I was to do a quote today for 30 days time. Changes; 3/4K (5,000 miles) value car to 30K value…

After effects of a non-fault accident
Hi all, hoping someone here knows the answer. After a non-fault accident, when getting quotes online on a comparison site for example, it asks if you've had an accident. Is this question specific to the vehicle you are driving and needing the quote for, or is this for any vehicle? I ask because aside from my bike I also…

Cancelling new car
Hi, my partner ordered a new car just over three weeks ago. She paid a £500 deposit and has signed the order form. The car has arrived at the dealership ready for collection. We have since found out that she is entitled to a teacher discount and this works out at £6150 off the price. Does anyone know where we stand in…

Clutch and crankshaft went on M20
Last Thursday, husband's Volvo broke down on the M20. He gets free breakdown cover with his insurance and only had to wait 20 mins. RAC ran a diagnostic and his clutch had gone. RAC towed the car to a Volvo main dealer. Normally, husband gets his car serviced by Halfords. He had booked it in to this main dealer for a…

Lease car write off/ claim question
Hello everyone. I recently wrote off my car in an accident. The vehicle was a 3 year PCH lease with no option to buy at the end and the accident was 11 months into my contract. I put down an initial 3.5k deposit and I was paying £433 per month. The insurance company valued the car at around £28k which I accepted as fair,…

2019 Citroen Berlingo with repeated adblue emissions faults - HELP ANYONE?
We purchased our 3rd Citroen Berlingo used van in August 2023 for my husband's business as a mobile locksmith. To date it has been returned SIXTEEN times following the "emissions fault. It will be impossible to start this vehicle after X miles" message. (the number of miles changes from 700, 300 and today only 100 miles!!)…

Claiming insurance
As I'm a new driver, I only have one year of imsurance with no claims. A man crashed into my car today and when I asked for his insurance, he told me 'I can't give my details because its not my car'. The car was registered to the girl in the backseat who I assume was his granddaughter. I couldnt stop anyone as a witness…

Cheap ceramic coating
Any tips on how to get ceramic coating cheaper than the £500-600 everyone seems to charge for a 5 year one? Aside from doing it myself, I can't and will have to get someone to do it for me.

Price comparison sites - do you then go to the cheapest insurer's site to confirm?
When I use a comparison site, it throws up a bunch of companies I've never heard of. So I find the cheapest quote from a company I recognise/are happy doing business with then go direct to them and do it all again. Am I mad to do this? I feel like I might get a better price doing so.

Hi everyone, My car was stolen 6 weeks ago. Insurance were almost about to pay me out last week when they said the stolen marker had been removed. I’ve then rang the police who told me it had been recovered by them a few weeks ago. They wouldn’t tell me any information about the condition of the car or anything else. The…

Call about claims: suspicious?
Hi I am pursuting a claim through Pogust Goodhead for my Vectra. I've had a call from 0121 368 8062 from a guy at Conclusive Financial saying he was finalising details, and I'd receive a call from the solicitors in the next four weeks. He had all the details of my car (including number plate) and my email address and home…

Car rolled with Handbrake on
I was parked on a very slight hill on a car park (have parked there many times before). Put the handbrake on, went in for lunch and was informed by a waiter that my car had rolled into the managers car (2007 seat ibiza 130k petrol). Damage done to his car is possibly a new bumper required (there's a scratch and a dent). I…

Confusing double standards from Carfinance 24/7
Hi All, I have been looking at buying a specific model of car that I have wanted for ages. I approached 5 or 6 lenders but ended up discovering that none of them would finance a car older than 2012 or over 100k miles, "for my own protection". Which is a ridiculous premise because the cars I was looking at had lower mileage…

Getting back excess after non-fault accident.
I was stationery, car hit me. They gave false details, but I had a photo of their licence plate and told my insurers. Initially, my insurers sorted my repairs and I paid a £700 excess and, upon renewal, my premium increased significantly. After a few months, the third party admitted liability and my insurer changed my…

They had only added £30 for my car being over 16 years old (a*Optional: Click to remove but my car is…

Car hire excess insurance
I've just come back from a hoilday abroad and unfortunately had an 'accident' whereby I clipped a curb and wrecked a tyre on the hire car. I took out an excess insurance policy as usual as tyres aren't part of the normal insurance when hiring a car abroad. If I make a claim on the excess insurance would I have to declare…
