Virgin travel points
Hello, I recently returned from a family trip to Orlando and would love to be able to do it again. Currently we use an Amex Platinum rewards card for most of our spending and pay it off in full every month (usually £1500 to £2000) we have had it a few years and normally get about £300 back every year. I have just looked…

Argos Pay
Please be gentle - this is my first post here, and I hope it's the right forum for this info. Argos have changed their credit service over the weekend and it's now called Argos Pay. I think they've changed/resold the credit to another provider and rebranded it. I've used their buy now pay later schemes over the years to…

Lloyd's ultra visa
Noticed the above on MSE Newsletter. 1% cashback on ALL spending (incl overseas) for a year. Applied for and approved last night. Saves me messing around buying certain things with Chase and others with Nationwide, and their respective cash back limits. Also keeps what I usually spend with those earning interest until due…

Lloyds credit card is unusable due to overzealous security algorithm
I am fortunate in that I have never been out of work or had any financial problems, and have an excellent credit history. That is not good enough for Lloyds whose automated security algorithms have twice stopped me from buying something with my Lloyds so-called 'Ultra' credit card, and then blocked the card. This is…

Balance transfer for free credit
When talking about balance transfers, Martin always, relates it to having an existing debt at high rates. But why not use it to get free credit? Eg, a big purchase, say £5k - make it in e, listing card, then transfer to decent BT and have up to three years interest free credit, rather than using savings. Or am I missing…

Lloyds Banking Group: BT & New Purchases.
Looks like good news for those who have a BT from 26 June 2026 you will be able to also use it for purchase. Used the correct way then the actual BT amount won't keep decreasing if matching the min payment with a purchase.

MBNA Switch from Mastercard to Visa
I have an email from Lloyds telling me my MBNA card will be switched from Mastercard to Visa in the coming months. One of my reasons for having the MBNA card was the fact it is Mastercard, where all my other cards are visa. Having all eggs in one basket can be a risk, even if small. Also this used to be an affinity card,…

Or could be an issue at my end…

Did the now-defunct Lending Standards Board provide anything useful and if so, who took that on?
I had never heard of the Lending Standards Board (LSB) until I read about them in a Santander T&C leaflet, which mentioned that they were leaving the LSB in July 2024. So I looked them up and found it was closed down last year, in October 2025. I read that they were focused mainly on small companies, but did they ever do…

OTP's and 2 Factor Authentication problems
A bit of a long post but tying to highlight the difficulties experienced whilst abroad. We travel to see USA family every year for at least a month. Roaming and international charges being what they are now, I don’t use my UK mobile number but use a USA sim card for USA calls and data, and use WhatsApp calls and messaging…

Expedia pending charges not removed after 30 days - help!
I'm at my wits end. I made 2 attempts to book a trip with Expedia (BA flights and a hotel package), using my M&S Mastercard. Both times, Expedia's website said failed attempt, try again. I tried for the 3rd time with Amex, all went through, holiday booked. I have since been and come back from the holiday. Meanwhile, the…

Potential scam of a company and credit card won’t refund
Hi all I ordered some dresses from a company called Olvia Rose London. I paid a lot of money for what I received - cheap dresses which weren’t “luxury” as described. They didn’t fit so I wanted to return and get my money back. The website states 30 days money back guarantee but have a length return process - take pictures…

Amex sign up bonus - who is wrong?
I signed up for the Amex Gold via MSE and got accepted on 2nd April 2026. The offer at the time was 40,000 points for £5,000 spend in six months, which is what is still showing now (offer end date 26th May 2026). This agrees with other sources like Head for Points which has a post about the 40,000 points from March 2026…

Multiple section 75 claims
Hello I have just purchased a used car from a dealer. I'd had it a few days when I thought to check my spare key. I've never had a keyless start car before so wasn't initially worried when I was given one fob and one service key type key upon delivery. When I checked the service key, it does not fit my car. I've contacted…
