Take tax free 25% lump sum triggers MPAA
Hi, I am thinking of taking 25% tax free lump sum from my pension. Does this trigger MPAA where mine (or my employer's) contributions cannot exceed 60K/annum or be taxed?

My ASHP Journey in Bonnie Scotland.
We have our new ASHP - just three weeks now and I want to get the best from it. As it was part funded by a renewables grant we also had a phenomenal amount of additional insulation put in the attic. We have 2 zones - upstairs and downstairs. I have so far left the settings as put by the installer. 20 downstairs 18…

Rainwater drainage
My neighbour and myself share a foul and rainwater drain. Our houses were built in 1975 on heavy clay so a soakaway for rainwater wasn't an option as there was already some flooding on the verge that our land naturally drains to. My neighbour has recently put in a planning application to build a two storey extension to the…

Argos and Yodel fail to deliver...reordered at twice the price.
I ordered two lamps from Argos at a half price in a sale. The site says they will deliver using Yodel on Friday. They don't turn up. Still nothing the following wednesday, so I get in touch via chat - but no record of this unfortunatley; they can't tell me where the goods are, they say they can't send a replacement. All…

Has UC removed my NI credits a year into my pension?
My partner and I had a UC account from early days, a dozen years ago. This made sense as I was self-employed throughout that period. As I approached 66 years old at the start of 2024, I diligently checked and topped up my NI years until I had 35 full years. Only around £2k altogether, covering about 8 shortfall years. I…

Does this count as having insurance declined?
I used a couple of comparion sites to get get some car insurance quotes but before I accepted one I thought I would try an insurer that does not feature on the sites as you have have to ring up to get a quote. Is this a valid ticket or unfair?
I have received a ticket. This signed to me suggested that between 10-4 you have to pay, which I did via the proper methods. But at 16.18 I received a ticket. Am I right to challenge this ticket?

TFC and 25% sanity check crystallised
Keeping the numbers simple. Say I have an uncrystallised 400k pot and I want 100k in TFC - I've never taken TFC before or withdrawn from the SIPP. This would mean I would have to put 300k into my crystallised pot with no uncrystallised left in order to get the 100k in TFC. If the uncrystallised 300k remains invested and…

Insuring a new(er) car
I apologise for what may seem to be a silly question but ... For the first time in ~ 15 years I'm going to replace my existing car with something much newer. My "old" car (now nearly 16 years old) was purchased new in March 2010 and costs me relatively little to insure - I've regularly switched insurers to get the best…
