Money Laundering??
My husband has made a purchase at an auction house. The auction house won't allow me to pay as my husband made the purchase due to "money laundering rules". I want to pay this on my credit card. They will only accept a payment from a credit card in his name (he doesn't have one) or from a bank account in his name or a…

Managed/Model Portfolio ISA/Pensions?
Looking at SIPP providers and I notice several platforms (II, Vanguard) offer a regular SIPP and a "managed" SIPP. The composition of the managed SIPP looks very similar to their "off the shelf" fund ranges so I'm not entirely sure how the "managed" option is really that different to just opening a SIPP and buying the "off…

Our buyers recently had a level three survey done on our house that we are selling. A four bedroom semi detached house built in the 1930's. We were prepared for an afternoon of disruption but in the event we were surprised how quick the survey actually took. Surveyor arrived and spent at most thirty minutes outside…

Santander free forever bank account changes
Just got a letter in the post that Santander are changing my business account to £9.99 a month. I've had it a very long time and remember Santander trying this move before only to be told they can't because the original sign up material pushed it as being free forever. Does anyone have any thoughts?

BSSI inaccuracies
Earlier in Jan I filed my tax return with my interest figures, I also requested a copy of the BSSI they have for me My interest figures show I am just below the threshold for paying tax on it. Is my understanding of this tax code notice correct ?
Hi. I'm hoping someone knowledgable about the tax system and deciphering tax code notices can assist. We live in Scotland and my wife is retired and in receipt of a DB pension of £3,400 p.a. and drawdown from a SIPP of £8,400 p.a., i.e. £11,700 gross p.a.. She also has a savings account which last tax year earned £974…

Selling a large tent - is ebay suitable for this?
1. I have a large tent that I want to sell. It will be collection only, cost over a thousand pounds and I'm sure that any buyer will want to view it before buying. As I understand it ebay makes it difficult for a buyer to contact a seller. Is there any way to use ebay for selling this? 2. I also have a small bell to be…

Is High Taxation influencing your retirement date or plans?
I know I’m fortunate, but the income tax rates / bands and fiscal drag have actually pushed me to reduce days a week and abandon higher bonuses; as it’s simply not worth it. This will be compounded if pension tax relief is messed with. Example; Does anyone remember the senior Doctors & Consultants refusing additional hours…

Should I pay off my (plan 2) student loan?
I graduated in 2018 and have been working since. My loan started at £36k and is now £51k. I earn roughly £100k/year at present. I have three options I can think of. 1) Pay it off in full. My worry is the plan 2 loan is getting a lot of attention recently for how criminal it is, if I paid it off and then the government…
