Plumbing question
Plumbing question…
I have a working toilet that uses a concealed flush system and works, however the flush button on the outside does not pop up after flushing any more. If I adjust the internal parts inside to raise the concealed part, in order for the outside button to rise, the toilet keeps filling and excess water is wasted (and is noisy). My question is: do I need a new outside button (possibly a spring isn’t working?) or is it the inside mechanism that is causing the problem? (PS it’s a Spanish toilet- ie Spanish plumbing) thanks in advance wise ones 👍🏽

It might unscrew at the top and there is a spring underneath.

Pic of the inside parts, too, Surrey? And the underside of the lid?
As far as I know, the return spring is part of the actual flush mech, and not included in the button - but I may be wrong. So chances are either the mech is a bit sticky, or else the button is. When you remove the lid, does the button drop down as if unsprung?
The button should be easy to remove and clean - after lifting off the lid, first try pushing the button firmly down and see if it sticks in that position at all?
When you reattach it to the lid, only finger-tighten the retaining nut (I'm guessing it has a large plastic nut on the underside?)

thank you for your input all - I don’t have a photo of the inside sadly and I’m not there at the moment! Thanks though- much appreciated

Grease any pivot points and sliding parts with a dab of Vaseline. That should make things a little smoother to operate. Just make sure the parts are free of any white scale first (especially if you are in a hard water area).

Spanish rules regarding gas appliances are likely to be different to the UK. Over there, a general plumber may well be permitted to service boilers (unlike the UK where you must be Gas Safe registered). So my comments about who may be cheaper are likely to be wrong.
