Skipton and leap years
Just had an email off the Skipton to clarify they don't pay interest on 29th February. Not sure this clarifies anything? Does it mean what it says, or does it mean you don't earn interest on 29th February?

ETF's, can't decide between S&P500 or All World
I'm new to investing, always played it safe with high street saving accounts, cash ISA's, etc. I've been reading a lot about it and dabbling with the Trading212 app. I'm ready to start putting small lump sums into an ETF over a long period (20+ years) and had picked the S&P500 based on, basically what everyone else online…

Impacts of savings with a US Bank
I'm looking to set up a 1yr fixed term savings account with Marcus Bank (part of Goldman Sachs in the US) . Their terms and conditions state that they can block withdrawals if they need to "comply with sanctions regulations, and not doing so could mean they face action by a regulator/government/law enforcement body". Does…

HSBC and First Direct Regular Savers - Closing statements and annual interest statements?
Just wondered - as per title really. Does anyone else have issues with receiving closing statements from HSBC / FD once their regular saver matures? I think FD sometimes send hard copy statements via post but I don't recall a HSBC account statement which has recently matured? From memory, I don't ever recall electronic…

Confused about NS&I login process using a mobile
Hello all,I'm aware that various posters have had issues with two-factor authorisation when logging into NS&I with their mobiles as the hash key doesn't seem to work for some people. Consequently to be on the safe side I've always just kept my BT landline details on there, which has always worked for me with my laptop…

SmartSave removing their "only one account at a time" restriction in rebrand to Chetwood
'SmartSave' is (and always has been, as far as I can tell) a brand of Chetwood Bank. They've now decided to brand it all as 'Chetwood', and in doing so, are getting rid of their odd "only one SmartSave account at a time" restriction. From an email: "As a SmartSave customer you could only have one Fixed Rate Saver account…

Interest rate effect on stocks and shares.
Hello everybody, first time poster. I have just opened a stocks and shares isa with Santander, more for the Top Cashback offer to start with. Looking ahead at possibly investing a higher proportion of my money as opposed to saving do interest rates have much effect on stocks/shares?

Where to put large deposit while I look for a house?
Hi all I have recently got divorced and my ex has bought me out of our house. This means I am about to receive £250k. TrinityBridge (formerly Close Brothers) is closing its Self-Direct Service
I have a fund "J HENDERSON GLOBAL SELECT" held with TrinityBridge for many years (I think it's a unit trust). I recently got a notice from TrinityBridge that they are closing the service and ask me to either transfer it to somewhere (they mentioned ii) or sell it. I'm an investment dummy and inactive "investor". I do not…

Darlington BS massively overpays annual interest
Darlington Building Society pays interest annually on 31st December, even for its regular monthly saver accounts. You don't need a calculator to notice that my own account, only opened in October, shows an inordinate amount of interest paid yesterday (should be less than £8). There are numerous reports of this happening…

Nationwide e-savings

Savings / investment re cash inheritance
Hi all I have inherited a cash sum of around 100K following the death of my father. I am wondering what best to do with this in terms of savings / investments. Seems like it would be prudent to put 20K in a Cash ISA - which ones might be best? And other possibilities which you may have found beneficial? My mum was a big…

AJ Bell fund deal charges
I'm sure I read over Christmas that AJ Bell are going to remove the £1.50 fund dealing charge in the spring. Now I can't find anything online about it. Has anyone seen anything to that effect? As a regular investor, that would suddenly make AJ Bell much more attractive.

Student loan
I have £3,355 left on my Plan 1 loan and £12,263 left on my Plan 2 loan. The government website claims both loans are at an interest rate of 3.2%, although this seems strange to me as it also states that interest for Plan 2 loans is "3.2%, plus up to 3%" for my pay band (however it does not state what this 'plus up to 3%'…
