Progressive BS 2FA

So I opened a 1 year Fixed Rate Access Bond with Progressive BS earlier today. I got through the selfie and upload a passport stage and got to the page about 2 factor authentication where I had two choices.
First I could download an authenticator app to my phone or I could use WhatsApp. My mobile doesn't download any apps (and I am sure someone will tell me I need a new phone). To complete the application I selected WhatsApp.
My phone can handle texts and for the first log in I got a text so that was fine but I suspect it won't work in future.
I tried downloading WhatsApp onto my laptop but it looks as if I need to have WhatsApp on my mobile for that to work.
So my question is do I need to abandon this Progressive 1 year bond or is there some way they could keep me on texts for 2FA? I have made an enquiry with Progressive but it will be two working days before I hear back and I don't want to fund it if I am going to have to abandon it

Other posters have advised that you can call them and ask for the codes to be sent via email. Text has indeed been phased out for login purposes.1

I thought email was even more old fashioned than text.
But now I think of it they did send me authentication messages both by text and by email as part of the application.0
