Vets demanding immediate payment
Hello 🙂 My dog was referred to a specialist vet for an operation. The vets won't deal directly with the insurers and the costs exceeds my excess anyway. The amount of the bill isn't an issue. Around one quarter of the total bill has already been paid and have had an application for a credit card accepted which will cover…

The perils of being a cat lover!
It's been sad times for many posters on here so, for a little light relief, I thought we could share some of our favourite cat stories! Whether it be unexpected gifts you've found in your slipper or under your bed or a cat with an unusual quirk or habit that non cat-lovers just couldn't comprehend! I have so many to share…

Can anyone advise re my goldfish please
I think it has swim bladder problem It is one of three "common or garden" goldfish in a 60 (width) x 30 (height) x 36 (depth) tank. There is a filter. We have had the biggest fish for 20 years, if not longer, and the two other fish for 15 years or so. I read online to make them fast for three days, and to change the water,…

Cat thyroid drugs
We have a 13 year old female cat who's developed hyperthyroidism and will need drugs, I assume, for life. This is likely to cost a fortune as there's no insurance for the cat. The actual drug (I assume these are generics) and dose needs to be settled. Therefore I need to source the drugs as cheaply as possible. Surely…

Sanctuary for birds?
Hi, me and the OH were planning our funeral the other day and writing our will and realised what if we both die before our cockatiel does? I know it sounds strange but we wouldnt want it to go to rspca or to the local park, ideally we are looking for a sanctuary that could pick him up if ever the time comes. Obviously we…

Dog dandruff
Looking for recommendations for a diet supplement for my GSD's dry skin. He doesn't seem much bothered by it, but I don't want it to get worse. I do give him oily fish once a week, maybe up this a little?

OUTDOOR cat litter trays
Do those exist? All my boys are VERY big, I have 3 massive trays for them but now that we have our own garden - would prefer to have those outdoor. I do not have any "roof" anywhere outside so need something fully enclosed/covered and google comes up with nothing that could potentially work. Any ideas clever people please?

Cleaning cat bum (TMI alert)
One of our 6 month old boys apparently isn't the best at personal hygiene and his bum has gotten sore. It's crusty and he's started scooting. I have booked him in at the vets for Friday so he can be thoroughly checked for any issues and we can get the prescription wormer, but in the mean time I want to try and clean it so…

Cat insurance
Need some recommendations as never had to insure a pet before. So far only had a quote from petplan, cover for life or classic. £27/month or £21/month respectively, with two months free so technically less in year 1. That is for 2 cats. Thoughts? Recommendations?

Multi level activity toys for rabbits?
I see lots of these things for cats, but I'm struggling to find anything suitable for rabbits, or for outdoors, and that is weather proof. Gizmo really loves jumping up and climbing on things. He has a small 'house' which lets him climb on top of his hutch, and also gets various cardboard boxes but I'm sure he would enjoy…

Average cat vets bill
I'll confess to being a bit shocked by the bill at the vets tonight. I wrongly assumed that it'd be quite a bit cheaper than horses as you take the cat there so no travel time or associated costs. I'm going to ask for an itemised bill when we go back next week for a follow up, but I wanted to know what you expect to pay…
