Hi,

Had devasting news today . My cat has been confirmed to have Lymphoma in the nose. She was admitted and had a load of tests done. So will be going to see a cancer specialist.

My cat is only 4 years old ! I had to hang up on the vet and then phone him back just had my feet taking away. Never been in the situation like this. Even typing about this is making me upset.

I googled a bit and seems she might be 3/4 years. Vet said he is glad to have found this type as they often react to treatment. But he will get us before the cancer specialist and he will run through the options.

Good news is my insurance provider has covered everything. Have £12,000 and used about £1,500 my support worker says.

Anybody had a cat with this? What should I be expecting further down the line? She is acting normal eating/drinking. Follows me about and sleeps beside me. Hard to believe she is so ill! Really do feel so low about this. Could not imagine having to take her in and watch them put her down. Don't think I could handle it!

My cat is following me about the house which she never did before and wants on my lap to sleep. Never got any sleep since I was told. Surely the cat does not know she is critically ill?

What difficult news. Your cat will not know the news but will sense that you are upset.

Have you spoken to your vet yet regarding type of lymphoma? Have they discussed treatments available yet? Or referral? Has your cat been tested for FeLV? Lymphoma generally is more common in cats with felv but nasal lymphoma is one of the few sites without such a close link - I'd still test though if it hasn't already been done

Was sent to the vet hospital by my local vet. They done checks including ct scan. Found a small lesion like at the back of the nose. Done various swabs and taken samples. Vet phoned yesterday to say lymphoma so will get us back to see the cancer specialist within the hospital. Never said much . She is negative for the felv. Few others she was checked for and negative. Partner is working today and I am starting a new job this week. Just thinking about this I am a state. Feel stupid. Just so glad to have insurance !

Aw good luck to you and your cat with this. You might want to have a look at somewhere like petforums.co.uk, and check out the cat section to see if anyone has some experience of this.

Thanks just posted on it. Really want to know what is in store as I have read the cat might start taking seizures. It's sparking a dramatic emotional reaction in me that I am lost for words.
