RSCPA Kitten Food is any good?

Hi all, I came across this brand on Amazon, RSPCA stands for The Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals is a charity so I assume the quality should be quite good. but my worry is about the low 18.5% of chicken in their kitten cat food's composition.
for instance IAMS (which is not a high end brand) in their kitten cat food has a 41% minimum for a similar price. am I missing something?

This looks like a very poor kitten feed. I personally only feed raw cat food to my kitten so I know what he's getting. There's far too much fillers in it, cats are obligate carnivores and don't need rice and veg etc.so to only have 18% meat if you can call chicken meal "meat".

  • I'm disappointed I was expecting that RSPCA's food was at average/good quality.
Thanks for the advice, I read about that raw diet, it's something to consider.

Raw can be bought complete which I do from kiezebrink, or you can prepare your own 80% meat 10%organ 10% bone, my kitten has the softest fur, his poos are small and not smelly. It also gives a good moisture content which cats are notorious for not drinking enough which is another reason not to feed dry. Boys are particularly at risk of uti infections. Even if you don't feed raw please look into high meat content wet food, I think zooplus do these. Kittens are easier to transition to raw, my kitten came from the rescue on dry and wouldn't eat wet but he stopped to raw straight off. Good luck.:T

  • Prairie Meal is gluten derived from corn/maize as a cheap protein source, compared to meat. Gluten isn't something cats tend to be particularly good with.

It's fairly standard animal crap with a licensed logo to convince people it's kinder (and make the RSPCA Central Office a nice extra income source).
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

  • The rspca is a money making machine who don't give a fiddlers for the poor pet in the street unless they have a big name in front of a camera

There are plenty of better foods out there. Even lidis is better, and cheaper
  • Thanks for all your reply guys
