Dog Worming Tablets

I used to get worming tablets from the vet. They are really expensive.
I recall the vet telling me that there are no worming tablets that cover all types of worms, sold off the shelf.
Is this true? If not does anyone know which is best?

Different tablets cover different worms, but there are worming tablets that you can buy over-the-counter without having to pay your vets a premium price. I use Advocate flea treatment, as it covers lungworm too, and then Cestem which is a generic version of Drontal (half the price)

Worming tablets don't prevent a dog getting worms but will treat a present infestation. It's far better to get a worm count done and treat accordingly than pumping unnecessary chemicals into your dogs.
