I was tested positive for Covid - can my cat get affected by it?
My wife asked me to isolate myself in one room in the house, and she told me to not even touch the cat because next week she wants to bring the kids to her mom (mum) and she is worried about me having Covid. I wanted to have the cat with me, but I can't, can't even hug her or the kids, it feels sucks, but I totally…

What do I do if my vet done expensive surgery that didn't fix the problem?
I'm not sure if this is the correct sub for this but please redirect if it isn't. I have a pet who has just returned home after some reasonably complex surgery. This was to correct seizure type episodes she was having. After being home for one week it's becoming apparent that the seizures have not been fixed. I spent over…

Stressing about dogs neutering Op tomorrow
Hi I'm looking for some words of reassurance please as I'm worrying myself sick. I recently adopted 2 Male dogs aged 3 and 7, they were not neutered by their original owner and it was a condition of the adoption that we had them done (the rescue are paying for it). The 7 year old is also having dental done at the same…

Vets bills
Hello, when settling a vet's £700+ bill is it the norm to only receive the debit card receipt or would you expect to receive an itemised receipt? Don't want to appear untrusting but would like to know what I've paid for. All information and quotation was verbal. TIA

Pet Prescriptions
Hi - my cat needs medication for hyperthryoidism. I have asked the vet for a written prescription. They've told me it will cost £25.00. I was just wondering if this amount was the norm or is this excessive? Considering the online savings, I guess, they want some of the share!

How long to leave a dog with daily visits - neighbour
Hi, I have a dilemma. My neighbours have gone on holiday it seems and left their Maltese terrier dog in the house with someone visiting once a day for feeding and letting out into the garden. it’s been a week now, I don’t think it’s right to leave a dog like that for that long? Not a dog owner so not sure.

Any tips for affording horse riding? It’s my dream to learn to ride and I need to learn for a possible horse related career in the future. Right now I pay £150 per month for x 5 lessons. I’ve looked into volunteering in exchange for lessons- found one place that will let me help out 8am- 7pm in exchange for a lesson. BUT…

My dog thinks his job is to get us up in the morning.
We have a Cocker Spaniel who is brilliant in most ways but he seems to have a clock in his head for everything. Gets fed twice a day and will prompt hubby when its feeding time by standing in front of him and tapping on his foot. Knows when son is due home from work and will place himself at the back door waiting for him.…

Communal water bowl
We are not currently pet slaves having lost our ancient kitten a year back. But we talk to all the neighbourhood cats that wander by and all the dogs (& their persons) should we be outside when they are on their walkies. OH mentioned that we should put a water bowl by our gate so that any dogs going by would be able to…

We have two senior cats and recently moved house. They went to a cattery the day we moved and have been in the new house for a week now. I just wondered how long other people left it before they let their cats outside after moving? Both cats are used to being outdoors often, but i don't want to let them out too soon as i'm…

The fish (goldish) are very frisky and there's lot of babies/different sizes. Recently put in a new pond and they spent a few days…

The best Rabbit Insurance in the U.K.
Hi there! ill be rescuing a young rabbit soon and I’m looking into insurance. I saw pet plan is recommended but it doesn’t cover dental work which is a bit annoying. Does pet plan cover stasis, ear problems ect (common rabbit issues)? I read the policy but I’m not great with wording 😅 what insurance do you recommend?

Do I need pet insurance if I am also eligible for the PDSA?
Hi, I find myself in the strange position of being eligible for the PDSA but also able to afford pet insurance for my baby pet rabbits. (However I am not so confident that I will be able to afford the £65 excess or the excess plus 20% of the claim after their 7th birthday that it increases to without a savings account for…

Can you haggle with a dog breeder.
So going on from my previous thread my partner is looking like she will go for a dog, question is the dogs seem to be very highly priced compared to others. Not a issue but I have a query, can you go to a dog breeder and offer less than their asking price?
