Twice last year we had to make the decision that it was time for a Border Collie to have freedom from its pain
Our vets don't home euthanasia and in both cases I wasn't going to bundle the dog into and out of the car at the vets and into the surgery (where we couldn't have gone due to covid) so we arranged a home visit by Dignipets and the 2 of them had a peaceful serene passing as we held them.
Our 3rd oldie wasn't as lucky, we rushed her to Derby PDSA but nothing could be done, at least the vet told us both to go in and we held her as she slipped away
Dignipets charged us £265 each time

Losing a pet is heartbreaking.
Years ago I rescued a feral cat from work, to be named Octane The Supercat. Torty and white.
Got knocked over by a car, I was more upset than when wifey ran off!Now a gainfully employed bassist again - WooHoo!3 -
I lost three in a five month period last year (a 13-year old dog and 2x 17 year-old cats that I'd had from kittens) and it was horrendous - although very much the right decision at the right time for all of them. My vet also doesn't do home euthenasia, so all of them were done at the vets, which wasn't ideal, but they made it as calm and serene as it possibly could have been, especially as we were all still wearing masks and trying to keep distance then. I was able to hold each as they passed. Even in the depths of the pandemic, my vets were letting owners in for euthanasia only.1

Wife was allowed in (1 allowed) at the PDSA but then the vet came out saying it didnt sit well with herseeing me sat outside in the car and she would take any flak off the management
Poor dog was so bad she didnt need the usual 1st injection, she had the 1 and calmly sent on her way
she was 15 maybe 16
