We took our 18 year old cat to the vets - 2 weeks ago and were told that the vet was going to send off the bloods for full testing and would phone when the results were known
We are still waiting for the phone call
My wife phoned them first thing today and was told that a vet would phone soon - nothing yet!
The tests cost £208
Would we be within our rights to ask for a  full refund?
The cat cannot go back for a repeat - he is stressed out

If I was half as smart as I think I am - I'd be twice as smart as I REALLY am.

So you've not been told they're lost but just that the vet needs to talk to you? Which is more likely a sign of the tests not being all clear or needing to discuss next steps rather than they're lost which is more of an administration thing.

the vet may have been caught up with an emergency so not been able to phone you.

It is only been a few hours

There is no suggestion that the results have been lost.

They would probably be emailed so not likely to be lost.

  • No phone call yesterday

    Phone again first thing.

What turnaround time did they offer on taking the samples?

If it was me, I'd just pop in and speak to them. Face to face is sometimes easier. Just ask what date they were sent off, have they been returned and the vet needs to speak to you or not returned yet. If not returned what is the usual turnaround and what do they suggest.
It's not clear from your post if the vet has said they have lost them? If so they just need requesting again. Has this been done?
Forty and fabulous, well that's what my cards say....

    Normally within 2 days

We are unsure - they claim to have sent them off sane day

  • I had something similar happen with one of my elderly cats a couple of years ago (although the vets didn't leave me hanging, they contacted me as soon as they knew what had happened) - the sample went missing somewhere along the line. They offered me a refund or repeat tests. It was inconvenient and my cat was also very stressed by the vets so putting him through that again wasn't ideal, but these things happen sometimes.
