Unlock EE smartphone?
I have read the article about unlocking an EE smartphone on this website and it says I can do this for free via the EE website. It appears I only need the IMEI number of the Android handset. Do I need an active EE pay-as-you-go sim and active EE account as well? I'm planning to buy a secondhand EE locked phone, but I only…

Affordable Mobiles - weren't able to supply the handset they agreed.
I wasn't made aware that if you order a refurbished mobile from AM they don't have one in stock - you have to wait for one to become available, and that might take a while. The delivery date they gave me was a guess; they missed it and weren't able to give me any idea when they could deliver. I cancelled the order.

Lyca Mobile Sim
Hi everyone, probably like a few of you I jumped at the chance to get the Lyca sim on the offer in the weekly email last week. I filled in the order form paid the £1.49, sim arrived, put it in my phone, filled out the PAC form, number changed today but I can't make any calls because it said that I have no credit. I was…

USA roaming ... Surely this can't be the cheapest way?
Hi all, I'm travelling to the USA for about 10 days in October. I am currently on a Plusnet 30 day SIM only deal. From reading the guide on here, it looks like the cheapest way to do this will be to cancel my Plusnet, switch to 3 PAYG for a data bundle while I'm away, then take out a new SIM only deal when I'm back (3…

Mobile phone SIM only help please
Hi all, bought what I thought was a half decent 2nd hand Samsung Galaxy off eBay. She advertised the phone as being unlocked. When it arrived I put a Lebara SIM (cheap £5 a month no contract deal suits me) but phone wouldn't accept it. I called her and she said she was puzzled and assured me phone was unlocked, but she'd…

Switching to "new" Lebara deal while existing customer?
Does anyone have any experience of joining Lebara as a "new" customer, to take advantage of their deals for new customers, while already being an existing customer - and then switching your existing Lebara number over to the new Sim?

Help. SIM Only for OAP not on Internet
MY 77 year-old friend has an O2 PAYG Mobile. She’s recently been in Hospital and it’s
costing her plus it's not easy for her to top-up. I suggested she’d save a lot by getting a SIM only
contract. Problems. She wants to stay with O2 (Why I don't know) She only uses calls and texts. No data requirement. She is not on the…

Warning ! iPhone upgrade destroyed my iPhone 7
This is a warning and a question My iPhone 7 128gb had a new battery fitted by an Apple approved repair shop a few months ago. During the upgrade to IOS 15.6 the other night, the phone grew incredibly hot. After displaying the progress bar it then failed any further activity. I took it to the repair shop and after changing…

Downgrade 02 sim contract tariff
Hi, I am on a 2-year O2 contract sim - 150gb paying £21 a month. I will like to know if its possible to downgrade my data tariff as my monthly data usage rarely exceed 30gb a month since I got the contract. I tried to the app and I can only upgrade to unlimited. I figure I should ask on here if its possible before calling…

PAYG for elderly - Lebara??
I'm trying to get an old fashioned Pay As You Go deal for my elderly mother. She is never really going to use the mobile - just needs a number so she can open a savings account. She just needs a SIM to put in an old phone of mine. I got a Lebara SIM card but don't want a deal - should I just choose top up credit? (She…

Mobile Phones In Europe
I live in the north of Ireland and as such I am entitled to travel on an EU passport. Come October I plan to visit Germany and I'll be leaving from Dublin Airport and I'm wondering what's the best way to wok with my mobile: Buy a preloaded SIM card in the Rep of Ireland and use it for phoning back home, or stick with my UK…

Porting number to Asda Mobile
Hi, I'm going to switch to Asda PAYG Mobile and want to transfer my number to them. Can anyone who's done this give me an idea of how to do this please? The FAQs says I can do this by creating an online account. So I've created my account but can't see an option to put in my PAC code. It's supposed to be under "My profile"…

Lycamobile - No incoming calls and texts after porting to Lyca
Joined Lycamobile in mid July and filled out the port in form to transfer my mobile number. The process was completed after 2 days. Since then I had no incoming calls and texts. Obviously this is massive inconvenient, as been using my number for over 10 years. Even had difficulty with text authentication when login to…

New Smartphone
I know almost nothing about Smartphones and recently acquired one for the first time. It is of course unlocked and does not have a SIM. Any basic phone I've previously had came with the SIM and number already installed. In the process of getting a SIM for the Smartphone and activating it at what stage do I get a phone…

End of EE Contract / Plusnet sim only?
My EE contract ends at the end of August so looking for Sim only. The EE sim only prices are looking a little ridiculous, although I've yet to go through the haggling and retention phase. I'm currently on 4GB data and don't really need more. I can get Plusnet 30 day sim only for £6/month but am I correct in thinking that…
