New SIM only deal - really need some advice

Hi
I have bought a new mobile phone and need to get a better deal that I have now. I have been out of contract for sometime so I am not tied to anything now.  I am trying to work out the best deal for SIM only...
So far I have narrowed my search to Sky, Tesco, GiffGaff, Smarty as these are reviewed well by Which? and O2 is the best of the big 4... apparently.
I am currently with O2 and I am happy with their service. O2's deals are cheapest via MSE comparison site but I guess that's for new customers. I could go round the other way and get a new number with another provider, move my number over and then swap back after.
Of the others, MSE comparison says that GiffGaff doesn't support WiFi Calling but I can't find that anywhere on the GiffGaff website, so I'm confused by that. (I will need WiFi Calling when I am not at home).
Could go with Smarty but they piggy back onto Three's network which isn't reviewed so well as a network (by either Which? or MSE).
Comparing them all is difficult and I'm getting very confused!
Does anyone have any suggestions?

Many thanks in anticipation. :)

It should work for you also, i have 2x done this (O2 usually asks during the process if you are upgrading an existing no).
if not just speak to O2 cs & they should sort you out.

I was sim only with EE, something like £14pm. Switched to Sky a few months back, half price offer at that time of £5.50
  • Giffgaff have apparently been looking into wifi calling for ages but still don't support it.

I couldn't use a service without it now.

If o2 works for you then try and find a deal.

I am currently using the Lebara deal from MSE.  Hadn't used Vodafone (which Lebara uses) since analogue days but it is very good for my current needs.

Virgin run on O2.  They might have a deal that suits you?

:I will need WiFi Calling when I am not at home"

Most people who rely on WiFi calling use it when they are at home, as it gives a stronger indoor signal by using the home broadband router. Not sure why you need it when you are not at home, unless you mean in holiday accommodation with poor mobile coverage.
If you do need WiFi calling take a look at 1pmobile (runs on ee)

  • Thanks everyone for your feedback and suggestions.
I will see what O2 can offer me before I leave them...

One of the reasons I benefited from having WiFi calling was that it meant I could make and receive calls when visiting one of my relatives where I had no signal (o2)

Switch to Virgin. They've merged with O2 and all new connections use O2's network. You will be migrated back to O2 within a few months, but keep the lower Virgin price.

I  am an existing O2 customer

I switched to a 100gb for £15 tariff via uSwitch

It allowed me to get it as an existing customer and retain my number

I'm with O2 but renewed my contract yesterday via Virgin to get 5gb data for £6 per month.

    https://www.virginmedia.com/mobile/sim-only/pay-monthly-sim?contractDuration=30&tariffID=1225955497&buspart=uk_ps_cus_mobile_GOOGLE_Mobile_Acq_Brand_SIM_Exact_Brand_SIM_Only_Exact_virgin+sim+only&CMP=DFA&medium=PPC&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI34CNlIuR_gIVDrrtCh0ZeAbZEAAYASABEgIFovD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds

Select the O2 deal rather than Virgin and you get taken straight to the O2 website. Deal includes 3 months Disney +.

Select the I'm already a customer option and decline a new sim.

Apologies for the big link but I'm on my mobile in Caffè Nero.
