I have budgeted for the fine and just keep rolling it over each month as we haven't received anything through as yet but I'm not sure how long it normally takes to issues the fines for taking out kids during term time? I'd have thought…

My son is 18. He has ADHD and struggles to manage money. I'm thinking ahead that if he ever (god forbid ) he got into debt. How can I protect myself so I'm not liable ? Do I need to get something drawn up at a solicitor? I don't want my house (owned) getting blacklisted in any way etc

Is there any hope?
My ex partner and I separated 6 years ago, we weren’t married but have two children together. Straight after I was being supported by Refuge due to domestic abuse. We have a shared-ownership property together which we are joint tenants (on rent and mortgage). Unbeknownst to me, my ex stopped paying his half of the rent a…

Dilemma: Money lent to relatives for a house deposit but…
2019 my wife and I were beneficiaries in a friend’s will, not a massive amount but significant. At the same time a cousin and her family were looking to buy the house they were renting, next door to her mum & dad, but were struggling for the deposit. We decided that we should informally lend them the £15,000 they needed.…

This may help someone, a few years back we took our child on holiday, on return we got 2 fines, one each the wife paid but not me. helping elderly relatives with health issues - lessons learned
excuse if in wrong place, but I've learned a few things recently which might help someone else, especially if you are doing things from a distance: Health and Welfare LPA - if you have one, tell your relative's GP that you do and ask them what their procedure is to record its existence. It doesn't have to be activated,…

Questions on school fines for the upcoming year
Hi We took our 8 year old out of school in April to go to Centre Parcs (damn their holiday time prices!!) and we each got the £60 fine which we paid. I've seen in the new school year that fines are going up to £80 per parent per child, and our youngest will be starting primary in September. He was kept back a year due to…

Is it worth paying one of those family tree companies? We’ve turned up a blank?
Hi all BEFORE I BEGIN PLEASE ALLOW ME TO STATE THAT THIS REVOLVES AROUND IRISH CITIZENSHIP/HERITAGE. For years my mother told me that her mother was Irish but didn’t know where in Ireland. It could have even been Northern Ireland. So, last year, I finally set out to try and find out once and for all if my mother’s mother…
