Kids school fine - do old ones count?

Options
I can’t seem to find an answer to this anywhere and thought maybe someone here had experience they could share.

With the new system in place for unauthorised absence during term time, I am aware the fine price increases on the second fine.

We were fined last year and I now wonder whether that fine counts towards the new system or whether the new system has reset everything.

So in essence does that first fine last year mean if we get fined again in the future it will count as a second fine, or does any new fine count as a first fine via the new system.

Thanks in advance

The first fine didn’t put you off?

” In the case of repeated fines, if a parent receives a second fine for the same child within any three-year period, this will be charged at the higher rate of £160.

Fines per parent will be capped to two fines within any three-year period. Once this limit has been reached, other action like a parenting order or prosecution will be considered.

If you’re prosecuted and attend court because your child hasn’t been attending school, you could get a fine of up to £2,500”

Looks like the clock restarts after 3 years.

It's not always the parents fault a child refuses school. Their are many kids with school anxiety, victims of bullying and Sen needs not being met. Not always term time holidays

Agreed. But the phrasing of the question made me assume that it was a holiday last time and now they are planning another. Maybe OP would like to confirm?
