Mandatory disregard and care home fees.

Hi
I am not sure of this is the right place to post but can't think where else to go.
By the end of this year we will have to go to the council for help with dads care home fees. He started as CHC and is now self funding. I'll be 63 and the house is the only home I have ever lived in but he is the owner.
I have been told it is a mandatory disregard but am worried that they will want to see my finances and say I can afford to go somewhere else. I'd have to rent as I would never get a mortgage.
Does anyone know if there are times this happens or is it just a disregard without conditons? I've put money into the house by way of repairs and updates and am planning to put more in but dont want to if they are just going to take it.
Any help would be appreciated including moving this to a more suitable place.
thanks

Nope, no financial assessment of your circumstances at all. Fully disregarded because you are over 60.

All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.2 -
As above it will be disregarded so you will not lose your home.
Do you now have council tax in your name and are you claiming the single occupant discount?
Is your father receiving attendance allowance? If not you should apply as he is entitled to it while he is self funding.1 -
Thanks for the answers. Council tax will be going into ny name for the next bill and he has been getting attendance allowance. Yes the single person discount is in place after a monumental mess up by the council last year, I feel beter now..Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220

BTW, note that 'they' won't automatically assume they'll have to disregard the home. We have an assessment stating that our relative has enough money to have to pay for now, and owns their own home. I've suggested that either now or when we get closer to the limit, we should write to point out that the home will have to be disregarded because of the 60+ child living in it. We haven't lost sleep over it ...Signature removed for peace of mind0

Thanks for that. I have lost sleep as I wasn't sure that just being over 60 and having always lived there would be enough.Aiming to make £7,500 online in 20220
