Awaiting MRI Scan
Hello I hope you can help. I haven’t booked it yet,
but my partner and I (we don’t live together, there is no legal connection) intend going on a big trip to see family this summer - Canada, Hawaii, Australia. I have been referred for an
MRI scan as my PSA level (prostate) has suddenly shot up in the last four
months – I…

House Rebuild Cost versus Value
Our insurer insisted we had a formal rebuild cost valuation that came in at £1.8m (incl VAT), when the bank recently valued the house at £0.8m. The discrepancy is remarkable! Perhaps there is potential for a new type of insurance policy that would buy us a new house if this one is destroyed, as that should be half the cost!

New vehicle replacement unable to be fulfilled
Hi all, I was involved in an accident whereby my car was written off. The car is less than 12 months old and on a PCP and as part of my policy I am entitled to a new vehicle replacement. I do not have GAP insurance. Unfortunately, the price of the car has increased (though the only changes are the steering wheel and a…

House insurance renewal premium
Renewal of house insurance is due soon. The premium quoted by the existing insurer is £195, up from £176 last year. I think I read somewhere that house insurance has gone up quite a bit generally, so I'm not sure whether to bother getting comparison quotes or not. I just thought I would see if anyone knows if 10-11%…

Third party car insurance not wanting to settle
I was in a non fault accident in October 2022 where I was hit by an insured car, but the driver wasn't insured and fled the scene. The owner of the car stayed on scene. Their insurance company admitted liability 6 weeks after, however when my insurance company got the figure for compensation, they refused to pay it and…

Holiday Insurance After Making a Claim
I have a worldwide holiday insurance policy with Staysure that expires in May. Unfortunately I had to make a claim on it for health reasons last year (refund of deposit). I have not upgraded the policy with my new health conditions because the cost is excessive and I can't afford to go worldwide again. In effect the policy…

Having an awful time with an eSure car insurance claim. Any ideas?
I'm hoping that someone can help me out. I made a big mistake by taking out car insurance cover with eSure. They are awful, both in terms of customers service, and also performance. They have had possession of my car for the past two months and are dragging the claim out as long as possible. Meanwhile I don't have my car…

Medical change DVLA and Car Insurance - declare or not to declare
Hi, a recent ECG revealed a (thankfully) benign heart irregularity (incomplete right bundle branch block in case anyone's interested!) I asked the Cardiologist whether (in his experience) this needs declaring to DVLA to which he was quick to reassure not. I have looked at DVLA's website and there is no mention of ICRBBB…

What puts the premium up or down makes no sense
I am baffled by how changes to our details affect the price of our home insurance renewal. I phoned Tesco to make some small changes. There were 3 adults and a child living here, now only 2 adults - that put the premium UP by £21 ! I know its not much, but how on earth can our risk be higher with less people & no children…

Loss claim on home insurance - lie detector?!
Hi all I am new here so hopefully I am in the right spot but I am after some advice. I have lost one of my rings and with Sky Protect/Zurich. I made my claim and it seemed to all be progressing. Last night I had a request to do a questionnaire, it was a strange auto mated questionnaire just said I needed to be in a quiet…

Travel insurance for August 2026?
As above, I'm planning a trip with my husband to a European destination in August 2026, but I'm having some difficulty in finding an insurer who will offer a policy this far in advance. Would a broker be able to find a company to provide this? I know that we can wait until August this year to buy cover, but it's an…

Aviva won't let me manage my baby's health insurance
I seem to be hitting a brick wall with a new health policy for my baby son. I took it out for peace of mind when he was born, but it's causing anything but. I originally just wanted access to the Virtual GP service, but to get there needed to access the online portal. After being told it was a simple request to login and…

Home Insurance - Matching Item Cover
Hi All, Is matching item cover really hard to find these days? I am trying to renew my home insurance and it seems very few companies do this now (I've found 1). The best you seem to get is a 50% contribution towards the undamaged items in a matching set. I ask as my current insurance had changed the terms from matching to…

County Court Claim for Reduced Car Value
Hello, I am hoping someone is able to offer some advice for an extremely stressful situation that I have found myself in. Back in mid 2023, I was contacted by my insurer that a claim has been filed by a 3rd party insurer alleging that my vehicle has hit their client's. The 3rd party claimed that they were given the car…

Home insurance
We've correctly declared to our home insurance provider Halifax, that our house is terraced with 3 beds and 2 bathrooms. We have a ground floor extension with a flat roof but they don't ask any questions that we could answer to declare this. I phoned to check and was told they don't need to know this, all they need to know…

Home insurance- asking insurer question
We’ve had a quote to inspect or repair roof, due to scaffolding etc it’s quite high cost. Long story short, about a year ago a tile shifted in a storm and let water into the cavity. A roofer popped long on his ladder shifted it back, and all was good. This year we’ve had a rat visit our loft, luckily not live in it, no…

Is an enquiry a claim?
I had an electrical failure in my home. I looked at my policy document but could not work out if I was covered. I phoned my insurer and asked if my circumstance was covered as I was struggling to find it in the vague wording in the policy. They took some details and said ‘no’. I thought nothing more of this. When I came to…
