Car insurance confused
I got my renewal notice for 2 February from Aviva so had a look yesterday. My renewal quote is £693. Down a little bit from last year. I did the money saving comparison search and the cheapest was AXA for £500. Aviva didn’t come up at all. Not sure if they are one of the companies it doesn’t show but I switched to them…

Note that each FOS case only applies in this instance and is not to be taken as precedence. My wife has lost some rings in the house and after searching the house many times I have come to believe that they’ve probably been thrown out. I haven’t got accidental cover or specific items listed and the insurance company say we’re not covered, I am confused as the policy states the following - “Valuables cover for up…

What did you last pay for your motor insurance premium?
I just renewed my motor insurance premium. I have 10 years NCD and no accidents. I drive a 2009 Honda Civic 1.8L Petrol. I paid £263 with Aviva Zero. I just got quotes for my wife who has 12 years NCD and no accidents. She drives a 2005 Honda Civic 1.6L Petrol. Her cheapest quote was £543. She is a nurse and I am an…

No Win No Fee Medical Report Question?
I'm currently in the process of a no win no fee litigation, and the insurance has just been granted. A Medical Report is the next step I'm told, and the solicitor has sent me a list of CV's of those qualified to do it. And basically asked me to have a look and choose one. I'm a bit flummoxed by this to be honest, as I'm in…

Car Insurance for 86 year old
Hi, I am trying to find a reasonable premium for car insurance renewal for an 86 year old friend. Last year this proved VERY expensive at over £500 but this year, the cheapest I can find is £743! Can you help me understand why? He has no convictions, no health problems, a modest 2009 Skoda Fabia which he needs for him and…

Car insurance total confusion. Cost dispute.
In April 2003. My daughter was involved in an incident where a vehicle turned a blind corner and hit her car door as she was disembarking. There was no issue with liability as the other party admitted fault. My daughter duly informed insurance company and her vehicle was taken for repair and a courtesy vehicle of the same…

Vitality : reviews?
Hi all, Thinking about getting life insurance with Vitality for OH and myself. Having compared several quotes, Vitality is slightly more expensive, but not by much, and I like the idea of the rewards and getting something back for the ~£40 per month that (hopefully) we will never actually use. Does anyone have a policy…

Home Insurance - No claims query?
I am shopping around for quotes for contents insurance for my home. I have had house insurance for many years and I have never made a claim. One of the questions when applying for a quote is the number of years you have made without a claim. My renewal invitation never discloses this figure (unlike motor insurance). So do…

Home insurance 22% up
My home insurance premium as risen by 22% since last year. No changes have been made to my account and nothing has changed with my home. I had a live chat with an advisor who offered me an £80 rebate as I was a "loyal" customer. Should insurance companies be able to hike a premium by 22% and is the wiggle room to make a…

My wife has just come to me in a panic as she has noticed that my details as a named driver are incorrect on her policy document. Car Breakdown Cover - FCA?
My RAC Renewal this year saw a 38% increase to £355, so I've moved elsewhere. While waiting on hold to cancel my direct debit (wouldn't allow cancellation on line) I decided to run a like-for-like quote as a new customer, which came out at £243. The existing RAC policy says it's subject to FCA regulation. I recall that the…

Appliance Insurance Claim Nightmare
This is my first post here. It's a seven week saga and I'm stressed to breaking point. I'd say it's about money saving because I shouldn't have to pay out for a new tumble dryer, but if this is the wrong place, I apologise and would welcome suggestions for the right place. Sorry, it's not short. Here goes: We have multi…
