RIP Off Insurance Companies

Options
Two weeks after purchasing a new car, I was hit by another car whilst I was stationary on a public car park, which caused minimal damage. Due to it being a new car, I was advised by the gargae (Seat) that it  could all be sorted via a claims management company, with minimal fuss and wouldn't impact on my insurance comapny. My car went in for a repair which took nearly two weeks to resolve, in the interim I was supplied with a hire car for this period (no wonder insurance is rocketing). My main gripe is with the insurance company because 4 weeks later my renewal was due & after doing some searching I  realised that I am now being penalised and will be for the next 5 years for a "no fault accident". So after over 40 years of driving and havig no accidents I am deemed to be a higher risk even though I was not sitting in a stationary vehicle that was clipped. I established that even with the cheapest policy I have paid over £60 extra this year & multiplying this by a further 4 years means I am paying in the region of £300, what a joke; had I realised this would happen then I wouldn't have involved in insurance company at all.

Bet that £300 goes no where near the full cost of the claim. Your insurance  cover provided value for money. Hire cars as you say don't come cheap. Is an optional extra not a requirement to have this cover.

So you complaint should be against the garage, not ins co's. Given they gave bad advice. As you are supposed to inform your insurance company anyway. Even if you paid for the repair out of your own pocket.

So you're saying insurance is sky rocketing because like yourself decide to allow car companies to sell pass themselves to accident management companies who charge very high fees for giving you a hire car on credit?

The impact of claims diminishes as you get further from the date of loss so you wouldnt be expecting to pay the same uplift in year five as you are doing in year one because its been shown to be a one off incident and not a sign that you've started routinely parking in a dodgy car park or such.

This is modern motoring I'm afraid.  Look on the bright side - you got your car fixed, you got a hire car.  When I was in the same situation I had to wait 6 months for them to repair the car (luckily it was still driveable)

Another Monday and another false rip off claim on the board.

People who have a claim are statistically more likely to suffer another in the short term.

Even with no fault claims.  i.e. are you prone to parking your car in a spot that makes it easier to be hit.

To be honest, I am quite impressed that the insurer has taken less than 5 weeks to turn your claim into a no fault one and to have received money from the other party's insurer.
