Lemon Cucumber
I've been given 4 lemon cucumber plants, which I've had in the conservatory, for a couple of weeks, and are coming on nicely. Trouble is, I don't know the best way to grow them. I've searched online, and most of the videos I've come across, seem to be made in USA, even though in my search, I put UK. Can I grow these in a…

Building a small mound for my stackable waterfall
Any tips? I have a small pond with 4 stackable artificial stone waterfalls. I previously stacked these with bricks but they got knocked down and I've woke up to an empty pond a couple times. I'm been advised to build a mound but want a few tips. I can just use soil but want to make sure it doesn't erode away when it rains.…

Tall conifer trees
Hi. I have tall concise trees. Someone says he could cut 3 metered off top and prune for 700. He said after cutting his gut they won’t grow taller? Does this mean they won’t grow taller if I left them as is and I didn’t do work? I’m thinking of getting a ladder and pruning it myself leaving the top(on the presumption it…

Honeysuckle problems
I have a well established Honeysuckle that grows at the back of my garden up the wall of a garage but every year after an initial growth spurt during April/May the leaves start to yellow and die off and I end up with a bare plant for most of the summer. In front of it sits a big rhododendron which keeps the base and roots…

Blackbirds
Hi all, Over the past couple of weeks I’ve been watching a lovely blackbird couple tending to their fledglings tucked away in my large ivy bush. I’ve peeked a couple of times but really only watched from the side lines. Mum and dad come often, feeding and watching the chicks. The chicks are probably a week or so old, I…

We've got 2 x yucca elephantipes (spineless yucca) that cant be grown in cold weather outdoors, so is listed as a houseplant. Will it grow quicker outside during the summer though? A hedge but not really a hedge
Our house occupies a corner plot with a grassed area that extends from the driveway to the pavement and continues around the corner and down the side of the house for a stretch. There is no physical boundary between the grass and the pavement and we have noticed the local 'Yoof' cutting across the grass to get down the…

Cherry tree leaves
Bought and planted a cherry tree last year. It's growing surprisingly well and basically obviously very healthy. Should get my first cherries from it this year - yay! (birds allowing). One thing though is that some of the newer/smaller leaves at the tip of branches have gone all curled up - obviously courtesy of the fact…

Vermiculite query.
Has anyone used the type of vermiculite used in chimney back filling and fire applications, if yes? how have they found it to be for horticultural use? I currently have to pay about £10-00 for a 10 litre bag and am looking at alternatives in larger quanties, about the 100 Litre bag size. Thanks for any/all replies.
