Fence or hedge for privacy
My neighbours have recently removed their leylandii hedge. I know most people hate leylandii but it was really good for privacy. It was so thick it even seemed to give some sound-proofing from their 3 screaming kids. Now all we have between us is a, less then 4ft, fence. Their garden is very small and they use it all the…

Which Ceanothus?
As we walk around our town we see lots of Ceanothus plants and trees, and would like to plant one. I have seen there are several varieties. The one we really like has the rounder flowers and turns into a tree once grown - something like this one: Couple of questions - What variety is it? Can it grow from a cutting? thanks!

Garden Waste Bags
How do people stop them blowing away after they've been emptied? The council collects the waste after we've left for work so bringing the bags in straight away isn't an option unfortunately. any ideas would be welcome

The only good slug is a dead slug ☠️
I did a search to see what discussions there have been on killing slugs, and came up with a blank. This surprised me and had me thinking that maybe I had found the home of The Society for the Protection of Slugs. If I have then what I am about to say will upset you, best look away now. I use slug pellets, cheapest I can…

Too much lawn feed
I put down some Aftercut All-in-one lawn feed and moss killer yesterday but I didn't check the setting on my lawn spreader and ended up putting too much down. I tried to water it down to dilute the affect but still ended up with quite a lot of dark brown patches over half of the lawn by the evening, I know some of it is…

Citronella ATTRACTING bugs - deterrent needed :)
Would love some suggestions of things to try that you know work... I've always found citronella a good deterrent of bugs but have struggled in my current home. Getting Rid of Awkward Weeds
Hi All, I have a small section of patio littered with weeds, particularly at the edges. The weeds are too difficult to pull out as they are so embedded within the concrete and indeed broken tar, is there any homemade solution I can make to remedy the problem? Thanks in advance

Leather Jackets
We moved into a new build property last year with a new lawn. It has never looked overly healthy and has always been a little on the yellow side. We have discovered today that we have what we strongly suspect is a leather jacket infestation in the front and rear lawns. My question is will the lawn recover from this with…

arkonite_babe's very useful Gardening Index
Nearly all the links in the sticky arkonite_babe's very useful Gardening Index are broken on the new forum. Clicked a few to test - decking, mushroms, potatoes. The thread is closed for comments so hopefully she or another board guide can update it (or worst case remove) as it looks to be a very useful resource.
