Global warming ?
I have several roses in my garden, the earliest to flower is always "Arthur Bell", and it's always about the 2nd to the 5th May. I've just checked this morning and it's bud has opened, it's the 16th April today, so that makes it 16 to 19 days earlier this year, quite a time difference. Is this global warming or what else?

Garden edging
Hi The grass area of my garden has a flat brick boarder which ground level so lower than the grass. Beyond that, there is soil where I have a tree, a couple plants and mostly unwanted weeds. Left untreated, the weeds go beyond the brick boarder onto my (artificial) grass. If I put edging between the brick and the soil area…

Hanging basket question!
This is the first time I’ve done a hanging basket so excuse my naïveté! The basket is made of canes – it did have a plastic liner in but no longer. I lined the basket with some plastic bags in which I’d cut some holes, put the compost in, then planted my plants – but now whenever I water the basket, all soily water drips…

Will a privacy screen stop my privet from growing?
The privet at the bottom of my garden has ‘bare legs’ (few leaves at the bottom) and is not pulling its weight in terms of providing privacy. I’m going to cut a good few feet off the top in the hope of making it burst into life but in the meantime I’ve bought some canvas privacy screen from Lidl (obviously along with…

Burning waste
Weve got a few branches, and 2 broken chests of drawers we'd usually take to the local tip, but its closed indefinately for obvious reasons. Was going to burn it all, but reading reviews the galvanised bins people use seems to fall apart ofter 4 or 5 burns - any other way of getting rid of this waste please?

Help with plants for border
Hi, I want to use the lockdown as an opportunity to get on top of the garden. One thing that really needs doing is sorting out one of the beds I have (photo below). I have tried and failed with this before and could really do with some good advice on what to plant so I can do it properly. The garden runs is north-facing…

Young nectarine tree fruiting - remove?
I have this: https://www.thompson-morgan.com/p/fruit-mereg-necta-me-mini-patio-tree/kb0559TM which is coming up to a year old. It flowered in January/February, and is now growing nectarines which was totally unexpected this year. It, and my equivalent peach tree, have been living in the conservatory over winter, but the…

Multipurpose compost and where to get some/any?
Although I have some compost for sowing seeds it will soon run out as seedlings need potting on. A quick look online shows that neither B&Q or Homebase have compost available for collection or delivery and garden centers are all closed. I am worried about ordering a bulk delivery without being sure of what I am getting.…
