Vermiculite query.
Options
Has anyone used the type of vermiculite used in chimney back filling and fire applications, if yes? how have they found it to be for horticultural use?
I currently have to pay about £10-00 for a 10 litre bag and am looking at alternatives in larger quanties, about the 100 Litre bag size.
Thanks for any/all replies.

I'm sure it can be used, though the stuff we had was coarser than the vermiculite I buy for topping pots and in some mixes. I buy on-line by the large sack. Off the top of my head the last one was between £20-25.

These people have just supplied me with Osmocote, literally in 24 hrs, but all suppliers are short of chemicals etc at present, so the brand I've bought in the past is currently out of stock:However, it is available on eBay, though I can't vouch for the suppliers.
