Planting a rose in an area that probably had fireblight
I've had two shrubs die and I think it was fireblight.
I want to dig out the roots , replace the soil( a gap in paving) and replant with a rambling rose.
Any advice please?

Karcher pressure washer
I’ve been cleaning my patio. The pressure hose from machine to patio cleaning head has sprung a leak. Presumably it’s not the sort of thing you can just tape up, so does anyone have a clue about whether it is replaceable or not. I can see how to change the head but I can’t see an obvious way of fitting a new pressure hose.…

Strongest weed killer
Hi, we need some help please. What’s the strongest weed killer to spray on a large paved back yard where huge weeds are growing? The slabs were put down years ago without any suppressant so my daughters garden looks like a jungle. There are big gaps where the weeds grow freely.

Help me choose an apple tree please
My garden is in the process of being landscaped (fencing/patio/raised beds/turfing) and I am planning what to plant when it is finished. I can do most of this myself at leisure and have rescued some plants which I will transplant. However, it would be useful to have the landscapers plant any trees or larger shrubs that I…

Global warming ?
I have several roses in my garden, the earliest to flower is always "Arthur Bell", and it's always about the 2nd to the 5th May. I've just checked this morning and it's bud has opened, it's the 16th April today, so that makes it 16 to 19 days earlier this year, quite a time difference. Is this global warming or what else?

Garden edging
Hi The grass area of my garden has a flat brick boarder which ground level so lower than the grass. Beyond that, there is soil where I have a tree, a couple plants and mostly unwanted weeds. Left untreated, the weeds go beyond the brick boarder onto my (artificial) grass. If I put edging between the brick and the soil area…

Hanging basket question!
This is the first time I’ve done a hanging basket so excuse my naïveté! The basket is made of canes – it did have a plastic liner in but no longer. I lined the basket with some plastic bags in which I’d cut some holes, put the compost in, then planted my plants – but now whenever I water the basket, all soily water drips…

Will a privacy screen stop my privet from growing?
The privet at the bottom of my garden has ‘bare legs’ (few leaves at the bottom) and is not pulling its weight in terms of providing privacy. I’m going to cut a good few feet off the top in the hope of making it burst into life but in the meantime I’ve bought some canvas privacy screen from Lidl (obviously along with…

Closed garden centres
I hope you are all practising your propogation skills as even if garden centres can open there is a fair chance that fresh plants will not be available. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-52098436 We have had to cancel orders but some have been delivered so we can only hope that the lockdown easies.

Burning waste
Weve got a few branches, and 2 broken chests of drawers we'd usually take to the local tip, but its closed indefinately for obvious reasons. Was going to burn it all, but reading reviews the galvanised bins people use seems to fall apart ofter 4 or 5 burns - any other way of getting rid of this waste please?

Hi, I want to use the lockdown as an opportunity to get on top of the garden. One thing that really needs doing is sorting out one of the beds I have (photo below). I have tried and failed with this before and could really do with some good advice on what to plant so I can do it properly. The garden runs is north-facing…
