Hello
I am basically new at anything regarding gardens. I moved a year ago to a house with a garden and it's my first one ever. I am now in the process of taking care of it: remove weeds, aireate, fertilise etc.
The borders are full of stuff. Most I can see are common weeds but there are some that I just dont know, maybe you can help tell me what they are!

5 FraxinsI agree with your No3. I looked at the leaf bottom left that is in focus. instead of giving full attention to the bulk of leaves that are out of focus.I think you're probably right about 5 too. The leaves aren't shiny enough for aralia and it's pretty uncommon.I'm sticking with my No 4. The leaves don't look thick enough to me for stachys, but I could be wrong.OP needs an app. We have a tree here that neither of us could ID in 10 years. My son in law held his phone up and announced what it was in around 10 seconds! (American Black Walnut, which hasn't fruited.)0 -
Wow thanks a lot! By googling around pictures I think I am confident about 3 and 4.
2 Ieucanthemum: I dont like it much really. Is it generally considered a weed?
1 and 5 look very similar and it's still a bit hard.
Finally what is the app?0 -
The app? It's called Picture This, but there are others:The danger of just relying on an app is that people may stop using their own eyes/brain.

4, Rose Campion (Bloody William)I'm still trying to work that out from the list of suspects, but none of their mug shots fit! The problem with common names is that there will be several for one plant, or one for several plantsI'm growing Papalo this year, but even now I'm not sure exactly what I'll get......Bolivian coriander, allegedly.

Yep agree with Lychnis, which means I wrongly identified a lychnis for a stachys earlier in the week. (1

Do they require cross pollination? Just a thought.

I thoight 4 was stachys as well, but the leaves in the pic are not as furry and a slightly different shape. Thanks Dave, they look pretty, might get some...And I do know what 2 is but I can't remember the name, it's driving me mad now, been a few days.....Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi1
