Ash are not good garden trees; seedlings from mature treespop up everywhere. I once counted 54 in a m2. You can't buy ash currently because of ash dieback disease, which is another good reason for not planting them.
I plant them in my hedges because hedge trees seem less prone to dying and all the seedlings are free anyway. Given 10 years, they make excellent firewood.

I just tried removing some. They are tough.. biggest ones I couldnt dig them out completely. I tried cutting as much root as I could and removed as much of the stem as I could. Any suggestions on avoiding them to grow back? (Apart from chemicals)

Black plastic placed over them, weighted down and left for the summer will work, but I'd go and buy a mattock!

I see briar rose in these pictures.  Easy to tell apart from ash by the thorns.

Ah sure there is rose there mixed up. It is giving some beautiful flowers so all good with that :). Will be tricky to remove the ash among all the thorns though..

Which is the part that I need to cut exactly? If I leave a little bit of stem inside (roughly 10-15cm below soil level) but I cut all the "side" roots, I assume it's coming back?

Some are very tricky because they are right near the fence. I can even see some where the stem is exactly below the fence and then it bends to my side when it goes up.

If you want to keep anything you really need to dig out. get as much of the grass roots out from the plant roots and replant but that should be done in the autumn if you want them to survive.
I hate getting rid of plants but in this case you won't be loosing anything wonderful except maybe 2 if it is a shaster daisy Ithough if it is it should be bigger than this) and 3 might be useful if you have a whole garden to replant. The Forgetmenots will return because they will have seeded.
Wild roses look pretty but on their own out of a hedgerow they aren't shown off well.
I've just made a garden from scratch last year. Paid full price for a few 'must have' plants and then bought the rest from the supermarkets, bulbs from Poundland and rescue bench at the garden centre. Still cost but it came in small chunks of money and a year on I have a colourful wrap around garden :)
