Can i grow a Yucca elephantipes outdoors when its sunny?
We've got 2 x yucca elephantipes (spineless yucca) that cant be grown in cold weather outdoors, so is listed as a houseplant. Will it grow quicker outside during the summer though? They're only small (approx 30cm high) and want to help them grow as much as possible. We know to water them very rarely, but was wondering if…

A hedge but not really a hedge
Our house occupies a corner plot with a grassed area that extends from the driveway to the pavement and continues around the corner and down the side of the house for a stretch. There is no physical boundary between the grass and the pavement and we have noticed the local 'Yoof' cutting across the grass to get down the…

Cherry tree leaves
Bought and planted a cherry tree last year. It's growing surprisingly well and basically obviously very healthy. Should get my first cherries from it this year - yay! (birds allowing). One thing though is that some of the newer/smaller leaves at the tip of branches have gone all curled up - obviously courtesy of the fact…

Planting with compost
Hello Completely new to gardening, I just planted two plants I got as a present. First one is a jasmine trellis which I transferred from its pot to another pot filled with multi purpose compost. Second one is a Pieris Japonica which I planted on the garden border. I digged up a hole twice the diameter of the original pot,…

Vermiculite query.
Has anyone used the type of vermiculite used in chimney back filling and fire applications, if yes? how have they found it to be for horticultural use? I currently have to pay about £10-00 for a 10 litre bag and am looking at alternatives in larger quanties, about the 100 Litre bag size. Thanks for any/all replies.

Hotbin 2
Anyone got one? Is it any good? My local council have it on offer at £200 which is a few quid saving but still a lot of money for a compost bin. If you have one do you think they are worth the money?

Mail order Grass Seed
Hi, I always buy my path cleaner and weed killer in bulk and online (as opposed to branded products from garden centres and supermarkets). I was wondering if anyone can recommence where to buy a good grass seed that they recommend online which works out cheaper? Thanks

Plant ID please
I have googled endlessly to no avail. I think it is a variety of geranium. I really want to know if it is a perennial or not. I got it for free at the start of lockdown from a florist who had left their unwanted plants outside as a free for all. Many thanks.

Rhubarb question
I am baffled. Does any genius on here know why my rhubarb does not go red. I can’t remember the name of the rhubarb but I buy the same one at each house. It definitely is supposed to go red, it’s definitely not a green rhubarb. Each year I give it the benefit of the doubt, too young, next year still young, next year -…

Lightfingered greenfingers! Thief took 2 plants but left the containers.
So someone has stolen 2 little apple plants from my windowsill today between 9.30am and 12.30 lunchtime. I'm utterly flabbergasted. I had been growing 4 little apple trees from seeds and they were about 8 months old, they weren't labelled or bought from a shop and only about 7cm tall. I repotted them the other day but i…

Does anyone know what this plant is
I bought this plant as a seedling from a church garden fete, it was supposed to be a Hellebore. It was just leaves for about 2 years and then the flowers appeared in the winter at the end of last year. not knowing what it was I cut the top off with the flowers when they started dying off. Since then it has looked very…

Can cement be laid over gravel?
This might be a silly question, but can I put cement straight over gravel? Our garden was a mess when we moved in. We're doing everything we can to get it looking half decent. There's a section right outside our window that's gravelled. The gravel is about 6-8" deep at least all over and this goes right across the garden.…
