Standalone structure for kiwi plant
I have (hopefully not fruitlessly  ) bought a kiwi issai, but the place I was going to put it is probably not sheltered enough. The other place in the garden doesn't have a wall to attach things to - any advice on the best standalone structure?

Any idea what this is, please?
I was given some flowers yesterday, as a gift, they are beautiful, and they contain a flower that I have never seen before. I love unusual things and would love to know what it is The head is shaped similar to a tulip but the ‘petals’ are smooth, almost waxy, with fluffy purple tips. The head is quite large, around 5…

Will my hedge grow back?
The council have done a horrible hack job on my hedge (it's my property, not council owned). It's a hedge that shields my front garden from a public path, so it's particularly annoying. I've posted some images below, is it feasible that it will grow back? They cut it at the start of March. You can see a comparison to how…

preparing flower beds
Hi I have flower beds covered in weeds. I sprayed with roundup and they are very slowly dying. Can I just cover it with fresh compost and plant my new flowers in it or do I really need to pull out the dying weeds and turn over the soil? Thank you!

Is this a hollyhock?
When we first moved in I discovered we had inherited a beautiful peach coloured hollyhock. Unfortuantely, last spring I dug it out by mistake. Today I've spotted this in the lawn near the spot where the previous hollyhock was, have I got lucky here?

Crop Rotation
Hello Folks, can you please help me with a question concerning crop rotation. I have 2 raised beds in which to grow crops. In one I grow salad stuff (various lettuces, spring onions, radishes) and in the second I grow pea's, beans and garlic. I have only had them for a couple of years but what I've been doing is swapping…

Is a rotator up to the job?
Looking for some advice.
The lawn area of my rear garden is approx. 60 square metres.
It has been in place for many years, and is well compacted.
It has a slope, and a twist, and a good few hollows and peaks.
I wish to get it to a regular level, prior to re-turfing.
I have looked on tube, and remain unconvinced, if the…

Gardeners World Mag Subscription Contact
Hello all, trying to help my mum out, we're NI based and as a result her 20years+ subscription means nothing and they've decided not to send her the seeds everyone else has been getting. A friend of hers had this addressed by complaining over the phone but seems this was the result of a switchboard mess up and she just got…

Garden Sleepers to seperate lawn an flower beds
i want to put down Garden sleepers to separate my lawn and floor beds . The idea is to lay them flat so I would not have to dig deep, Generally sleepers are quite expensive but the ones I want will be for practical use and not for decorative purposes. I have seen some cheaper ones both under £10 in Wicks and B and Q .…

Roots from neighbours tree coming under fence.
I am not sure if this is the correct forum for this subject. My neighbours who rent the property behind me have a tree that is close to my fence. Some large tree branches are resting on the fence causing it to break and some roots have come under my fence which are shooting up. How can I get rid of the roots and what are…

Plant/weed ID
I appreciate that liking/keeping plants is subjective, but I'm not sure if I have ID'd these correctly and whether to keep them in the border. The plants generally are either crammed in or the soil (if you can call it that!) is bare so I could do with tidying it up. All thoughts welcome. I've used https://plant.id/ to get…

Using electric scarifier
Hi all. I had a new lawn laid last summer - all nicely bedded in now. I’ve given it a first cut this year recently and noticed quite a bit of thatch build up, although grass generally looks healthy. It’s quite a large lawn so I’d like to use an electric scarifier. However, I did use it on a previous lawn and ended up with…

Repaint a garden planter..... what. With? w
Have 2 lovely contemporary planters. need to rejuvenate them. they are made of a plastic like material. Not metal nor clay. However don’t feel like cheap plastic. Maybe a resin type substance. anyway, any experience with painting these? my worry is paint flaking off and making them look awful.

Anyone know what these are?
Me again. Still trying to work out what we've inherited in our garden from the previous owner. What are these, and are they just different colours of the same plant?

Greenhouse gutter ID?
As the long wet winter from hell turns into the breakdown of civilisation as we know it, our thoughts have turned to self-sufficiency... Yes, OK, maybe I'm exaggerating slightly, but we've been thinking about the greenhouse anyway. No idea who manufactured it originally, but it's been in place for decades rather than…

Matting
The previous owner of my house had the garden landscaped and put down matting to prevent weeds coming through. Unfortunately our garden is pretty dry because of two big trees, and I think the matting (although it's permeable) exacerbates the problem. I've started ripping the stuff out when I'm planting, but is this worth…
