Mushrooms in houseplants

I've got a ficus and a rubber plant that I've had for about 3-4 years. I've repotted them a couple of times, most recently late last summer after we moved house. I noticed this morning that both of them have mushrooms growing in them, which has never happened before. The ones on the rubber plant are bigger, the ones in the ficus are really little, only just popping up. I'm sure they've just sprung up out of nowhere, I don't remember seeing them even last week when I watered both plants!

They aren't sat next to each other and the only thing in common is the compost I used when I repotted them - Westland Gro-Sure easy container compost. I've pulled the mushrooms out now, but are they likely to come back?

Have I done something wrong? Or is it something wrong with the compost? I've since used it for more containers for the garden now so I'm worried I'm gonna have mushrooms springing up everywhere!

My guess it's in the compost, these days a lot of compost is bark based and that would [or wood? :D ] be the host for the spores
I'd just scuff them off & they'll soon die out
