I’ve read that anti graffiti paint will stop ivy clinging to stone walls. Has anyone experience of using this and can recommend a particular brand. It’s mighty expensive so I don’t want to waste my money. Thanks

Just use some weed-killer.  If you don't want it on your wall... it's a weed and needs to be dealt with appropriately.

Ivy is not easy to kill.
Control it by cutting it back from where  you do not want it.

As others have said you are over thinking things.
Control the ivy at source & you will not have the problem.

I inherited an ivy growing up a tall fence post. It makes a small tree where it gets to the top flowers, berries with butterflies and bees.
I'm putting a taller post in to grow another because it's evergreen and no maintenance.
Could you perhaps just divert it?
Cheaper and less trouble for around 5pounds.

Yes, having gone through a period of trying unsuccessfully to rid the garden of ivy, I've now embraced it.  The wildlife it supports is incredible, with sparrows and bats enjoying the dense cover up my ash tree and wrens nesting in the bits that trail down over the walls and fences.  With a dense cover of ivy on the fence, the wood itself stays dry and lasts so much longer, without recourse to preservatives.
