Left over holiday money
I have about $1,000 left over from a holiday from USA. Don't think I'll be returning for quite a long time, what's the best way to change it back to £ Sterling. Would a local post office or bank be able to change the money and if so how reasonable would the rates be?

Aeroflot Missed connection extortion
Hello All, So, I had the recent unfortunate experience of flying Aeroflot with my young family, Flying London-Moscow-Ufa to go visit family for a few weeks. Book a through-ticket for entire journey (single reservation code), direct with Aeroflot, and a transfer window of 1.5 hours…

Car Hire abroad
I have been told that I need a credit card to hire a car abroad on holiday. Is this true? If it is it means I wont be able to hire one as I don't have and don't want a credit card.

BA Avios missing
For the last two quarters my Tesco Clubcard points which I redeem for BA Avios have not gone to my BA Executive Account (which replaced the old Avios account). I phoned Tesco Clubcard and they say they need my BA Executive Account number before they can transfer redeemed points to it. I mistakenly thought that they would…

Car Hire USA
This is our scenario: Travelling to USA in July to visit family and need to hire 7 seater vehicle. Driver could be a resident of USA, with USA driver's licence. One family member travelling with us is American, now living in UK, and holds GB and USA drivers licences. Everything is looking very expensive and I'm just…

International driving permit
We're off to France in June and have hired a car on arrival. As I understand it there's no need for an IDP until we leave the EU which is probably not for several months. If we do leave there may be a need for an IDP but probably not if we get a deal. Just wondered if others thoughts my understanding was correct and…

When to convert my currency to JPY
Hi! I am planning a trip to Japan for fall 2020, and obviously this will be after the Summer Olympics takes place. Will this event, and the possible surge in tourism, affect the rate of the Japanese Yen? I will be converting GBP to JPY and wondered if you think it would be better to convert my money before any change…

Car hire taking deposit, not blocking??
Hi there I’m going on holiday in a few weeks to Malaga and have a car for 12 days. Got car hire really cheap through Goldcar (I know these get a bad rep, but I used them last year without a hiccup). I’ve also taken out separate insurance as through them it was ridiculous. The only thing that they did do last year, was…

Cabin bag Ryanair
Noticed that Ryanair quote cabin bag size as 55x40x20. Normally we fly with BA where I notice the sizes are 56x45x25 so a little bigger. Not measured the size of our cabin bags but, obviously, I don't want to rock up at the airport and find out I've got to cough up and extra £50 per bag because the cabin bag is 5cm too…

easyJet one way hold baggage question
I only want a hold bag on the return leg, and easyJet's website says I can't book that online, so I'll call them. I understand however that telephone bookings are charged a premium over online bookings so my question is will the premium outweigh the cost of booking a bag online for the round trip but not taking one on the…

Borrowing a family mambers car in Spain
My son-in-law has a car I can borrow whilst I'm in Ibiza. He has it fully comprehensive for anyone over 25 but that carries a 500 Euro excess. Collision damage waiver policies only cover cars rented from a car hire company so does anyone know if its possible to buy this sort of cover for this particular usage? Thanks

Ideally I want to fly from Doncaster Sheffield, Leeds, East Midlands or Manchester on 20th May 2020, returning around 2 weeks later. I've got a price for the both of us using Tui for…

South African Airways rip-off
I delayed my return and was wrongfully charged for my return ticket to the UK. Who can I turn to for a refund? The credit card I paid with? The airline? My travel insurance company? The travel agent? One of the organisations that protect us - ABTA/IATA/CAA/other? I would be most grateful for some expert help. The…

flight comparison sites
Hi, I am new to looking for flights. Any website where you don't have to specify a UK airport, like this: "ANYWHERE IN UK" to Florence (FLR) or nearby (Pisa) When I checked 2 sites I was only given nearby airports and that means Cardiff or Bristol only.

Thomas flight downgrade advice.
Hi My partner recently flew Thomas Cook (flight only) reign from Manchester to Orlando. We booked ‘premium’ as it was slightly bigger seats, more baggage etc. Seats were also prebooked All was fine on the way out. On the way back, when on the plane he noted that it was an economy seat, nothing had been said to him at check…

Challenging a damage claim from a car hire company.
I hired a car which had a lot of minor damage on it beforehand and which was marked on the rental form. On returning it there was no-one around from the hire company so I took photos of the car. The hire company then sent me an email from a noreply address with a photo of a scratch which is very faint and not visible in my…
