Las Vegas via Dublin ?

Options
Hi there,

Can anyone give me an idiots guide to getting to Vegas via Dublin please ?

Nearest airport to me is Exeter.

Do i book Exeter-Dublin seperately, then book Dublin-Vegas ( via LHR ? ) or Dublin-Vegas direct ?

Apparently i could save a lot of money versus flying from UK ?

Ideally want to travel during September 2020.

  • Just look at Skyscanner and kayak at flights? Indirect and direct. Can you not travel to another airport? If not then you could clear immigration at Dublin so that would be easier.

You mean another airport rather than Exeter ?

there are no direct non-stop flights from Dublin to Las Vegas
you would be relying on a separate one-a-day Flymaybe flight to get to Dublin (possibly travelling the day before with accommodation) add in baggage fees and any savings could be wiped out

As it happens i have jumped in and booked all the flights !!!

And saved a fair chunk of cash, plus dont have to drive to Manchester from Devon now.

Exeter to Dublin ( and back with Flybe ) less than 150 return for 2 of us - we booked the 2 flights seperately.

Dublin to Vegas via American Airlines Premium Economy 650 each.
short stopover in Chicago one way, and Dallas other way.

Just have to book one night in Dublin ( never been there before, so can have a night out there ) and parking at Exeter.

Travelling to Manc would have incurred petrol costs, plus taxis from Cheshire to Airport and back ( approx £80 in total for taxis ) - we would have stayed a night with relatives and left car there, but wouldnt have troubled them for lift to airport as it would have been a pretty early start ( and collection ).
Plus dont have the hassle of long drive back to Devon after hol.

All you have to hope for is that Flybe are still operating in September 2020.

By booking separate flights you have no comeback on your Dublin to Vegas section with American Airlines should you miss the connection.

Note that there is now a good bus service between Exeter Airport and the railway station and city centre, so no need to pay for airport parking.

Premier Inn Dublin airport is well sited, reasonably priced and has regular airport shuttle buses .

Welcome to the wonderful world of positioning flights !

Positioning flight is day before main flight which should mitigate possible connection issues, i am hoping Flybe will be stable for a decent period now they have been bailed out.

You should be fine on the positioning flight stopping for a night over. I have done the last Ryanair flight from Man to Dub a few times then dossed upstairs near to macdonalds for about 7 hours, not for everyone I know🙄

So what arrangements for your return leg, are you returning to Dub and giving enough time for poss delays before the Exeter flight? I don't mind getting the positioning flight to Dub but always get the return back to Man to avoid potential delays.
