Upgrade to Bizz: how much would you pay?

Options
I shall be travelling shortly: a night flight of 7 or 8 hours (and then a connecting flight for part of the following day). The airline has invited me to bid for an upgrade to Bizz. Obviously the thought of a flat seat for the night and a champagne night-cap is appealing, but I am struggling to work out how much I am prepared to pay for these benefits. (The website does not allow one to make a low offer and hope: I am pretty sure that the minimum that it would accept is going to yield an upgrade, but that is still a lot. Oh: I am not considering upgrading for the connecting flight the next morning.)

How much would you be willing to pay for this?

I’m booked to fly Premium on VS on Sunday. On checking my booking today I was offered to upgrade to Upper Class for £1785. Needless to say I didn’t take up the offer.

What airline and what routing Voyager?

Since you ask, Oman Air MAN - Muscat.

The minimum possible bid to upgrade the one sector is slightly less than the total cost of my four-sector ticket -- but then Bizz is supposed to be special, and if it were cheap we would not appreciate it.

I just flew with them a couple of days ago. Their Business Class is no more special than any other BC on the main ME airlines.. Though of course it depends on to what you are used.

I always decline, as I can usually buy the whole trip in BC for the cost of a two sector upgrade.

On the other hand, I got a very good price for an upgrade on Norwegian, but then missed the flight anyway.:D

We had a BA Business Class return LHR/Singapore/LHR with outgoing in Nov last year.
BA then offered an upgrade to First Class for GBP300 pp for the LHR/Sing sector .
Seemed reasonable so we took it.

But the whole First Class experience was so poor, worse than many Business Class flights we've been on with other airlines that although we've been offered the same deal for the return flight next month that we won't bother taking it up.

In fact we were so disappointed with BA that we won't bother flying with them in BC or FC again.
It's your money. Except if it's the governments.

Asking £700-£800 as the bid minimum?

Im assuming £500plus (which I think is too much)
a few years back we got Trivandrum/Dubai (4 hrs) with Emirates for £69.
We also were offered the Dubai/Glasgow sector for £229 which 4 me is about as much as I would be willing to pay

I have actually been rather impressed with BA Club long-haul, although the catering and lounges on Air France are in a completely different league.

    Yes, spot-on.

I think that is a sensible price for Dubai-Glasgow.

I was referring to the Concord lounge at Heathrow which wasn't First Class imo and when we then tried the BC there to make a comparison that was better, imo and the food there was better. OK free flow of shampoo in the Concord lounge.

Also the BA First Class service on board was very poor and not much better than Econ as far as the stewards were concerned. Food was better but really not by the difference you'd expect.

I see... and I was distinctly under-whelmed by The Galleries (BA business lounge at terminal 5). I gave it just one star for atmosphere and food quality, but if you looked you could find some pretty good wine on offer.

As for service on board: my worst complaint was being given champagne when I asked for Chablis.
