Barclay proof of funds and closed my accounts
I opened a personal account with Barclays on the Tuesday, made two transfers to it from my husband's and I joint account. They then, on the Thursday put a block on my account and withheld all my funds. Now I am being told to send proof of funds to the Barclays email address BarclaysPOF@barclayscorp.com, and to wait 10…

Smart to have money in seperate accounts?
Hey MSE, I have done quite a lot of bank switches over the past year and now have quite a few bank accounts that still have the minimum pay in within the account. Is this a good idea? Or a bad one? Maybe its good to have money in accounts I dont use in case of debanking / phone stolen? My only concern is these funds aren't…

Another switching question
Due to a complicated story which I am happy to post here (I'll put it at the bottom so don't bother to read if you're not interested) I switched banks at very little notice, and with no preparation. There seemed to me no urgency to notify payers, as I know any payments into the old (TSB) account have to find their way into…

Nationwide FlexPlus for 1 month
Hi, we are currently in the final stages of planning our holiday to the USA with my mum who's 64 years old. She doesn't have a travel insurance yet and they are quite expenses now for her. I thought she may be able to sign up with Nationwide FlexPlus for a month and then downgrade, after we come back from the USA. That way…

On the web site I created a large payment to "company X" with reference "person Y", scheduled for a few days from now. Current accounts for UK citizens who live outside UK
Does any UK bank or building society offer a current account to UK citizens who are resident outside the UK? I realise the likes of HSBC, Lloyds, etc do, but only if you can guarantee to invest a minimum of at least £50k, which is impractical for me.

Identity documents to open a bank account
I have an appointment in branch to open a Barclays Bank Account. Since I don’t have a passport or drivers license, they can accept a HMRC letter from the last 12 months, but I have only got a national insurance letter - on it, it says not to be used to prove your identity. Should this be fine to bring along regardless.
