Cannot say that I am that surprised. It always seemed a bit of a "me too" by HSBC, and I found their marketing a bit of a turn-off personally. Better withdraw my £2!I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Credit Cards and Budgeting & Bank Accounts boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Hopefully they can transfer some of the features and style over to HSBC which is stuck in 2003.0

Shame, got a couple of free fivers out of them for a bit of Amazon Gift Card stuffing.
Solved a recent overseas problem (forgotten card) by opening a Zing account and using it via Google Pay. Free £20 referral too.
The marketing was annoyingly "down wiv da kids, bro" but it seemed to do its job pretty well.
The double-slidy box that the card arrived in is a joy.0 -
That was quick; just received a mail saying it'll work as normal until 02/04 and then it's closed on 22/05:

Body of mail sent to customers...Zing, and your account, will close on 22 May 2025.
Dear sausage_time,
We are writing to inform you that we will unfortunately be closing the Zing app in the coming months due to changes in strategic business priorities. Unfortunately this means that your account will be closing.
We understand that this is disappointing but we aim to ensure this process is as smooth as possible for you.
What this means for you now
There are no immediate changes to your Zing account and your funds remain safeguarded.
All account and app functionality will continue to work as normal until 2 April 2025
If you have money in your account we recommend that you transfer it to an alternative account or use the remaining balance with payments. You will not be charged for converting other currencies held in your Zing wallets back to GBP.
Key dates for changes to the Zing app
No new funds can be added to your Zing account from 2 April 2025 onwards. You will no longer be able to top-up or receive inbound payments into your Zing account.- Zing will work as normal until 2 April 2025.
- All account and app functionality will continue to work so you can add funds, convert currencies, transfer, spend or withdraw the money in your account.
- After this date, you will no longer be able to access the Zing app. We will send you a formal notice of termination at the relevant time.
You can close your account yourself anytime before 22 May 2025. If you would like more information on how to do so, please check here.
If you have questions
We have prepared a list of FAQs which you can find here in order to answer any questions you might have. This will be updated regularly to keep you informed.
If you have any other questions, our ZingCare team is ready to help 24/7, this article explains how you can get in touch with the team.
We will inform you by email if there are any further changes to Zing’s products and services moving forwards.
Be wary of fraudsters
Be wary of anyone asking for money transfers. Neither Zing nor HSBC will ask you to transfer money to specific accounts. If you have been asked to make a transfer or if you are unsure of the identity of the payee, please contact us immediately.
Alternative international money HSBC account
If you are considering an alternative account to Zing, you have the option to explore our Group company HSBC UK’s Global Money Account. This account is available to customers with an eligible HSBC UK current account and mobile banking app only. HSBC UK is a separate entity to Zing and different consumer and financial protections apply; please refer to HSBC UK’s terms and conditions prior to opening a Global Money Account.
Thank you for being a Zing member. This journey wouldn’t have been possible without Zing members like you, who have been at the heart of everything we’ve built.
Yours,
The Zing team

Not surprised after the £30 offer was posted on MSE.....I got £60 wife£30 all withdrawn

Shame as, despite only originally signing up to get the £30, I've actually found it useful and very straightforward to send Euros to a couple of my children that live in Europe (especially since Fineco closed their UK operation)0
-
I thought mine was empty, but I just checked and had ~60p in it so had a little flurry of excitement like finding something down the back of the sofa. I do quite like the rhomboid swipe-to-pay button0
-
Only opened mine for the free £20 referral anyway.
Just closed it, to get rid of the app from my phone, and the flow tries to talk you into staying still 🤣0 -
Just received an email from Zing stating the App and my Zing account are closing from the 22 May!
Email reads,“We are writing to inform you that we will unfortunately be closing the Zing app in the coming months due to changes in strategic business priorities. Unfortunately this means that your account will be closing. We understand that this is disappointing but we aim to ensure this process is as smooth as possible for you.”
Didn’t last long, wonder what the “Strategic business priorities”are?
Not overly fussed, only really opened the account for the bonus cashback!
