Revolut Card - Holland

Options

Hi,

Apologies if this has already been asked, but I couldn’t find a clear answer and just wanted to double check.

I’m heading to Holland in August and have just received a Revolut card.

Am I right in thinking I can top it up here in the UK and use it like a normal debit card over there, with no fees, no hidden charges and no currency exchange costs or hidden charges at all?

Thanks!

You can top it up wherever you like, its a normal UK bank account with a UK sort code and account number

But yes. They do charge once you go over a certain amount of cash withdrawals though, not sure what it is without looking.

Make sure you have a backup option. Revolut isn't known for their good customer service so if you have any issues whilst travelling it'll probably take a while to get them resolved. Personally I recommend one of the top travel credit/debit cards listed here: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/credit-cards/travel-credit-cards/

As for Revolut fees, their exchange rate whilst pretty decent isn't the best. They also used to add a margin on weekends, not sure if they still do. They also have a monthly limit on ATM cash withdrawals.

Just be aware that some ATM owners do charge a fee, that will be passed onto you.

OP is correct, that is how you use Revolut. However, assuming the OP has the Standard free Revolut account, there are no fees so long as you spend less than £1000 in a month. Over that, Revolut start charging fees.

On top of that, customer service is atrocious. I would strongly advise Starling or First Direct over Revolut.
