What is happening on broadband comparison sites?
I am looking to switch broadband supplier so have looked at a number of the comparison sites as well as quidco and MSE. I am getting two problems. I see an offer, say quidco, with Shell for under £10 or Vodafone for £14.34 p.m. (after cashback and vouchers). But when I click through I get told that my line does not support…

Is there any way around the 14 day new customer broadband restrictions?
Hi, we're moving house next week and the few broadband providers have all said that there is a 14 day wait in place for new contracts and that everyone will have the same thing in place (certainly seems to be the case) Is there any way around this please? Cable or fibre are not an option unfortunately. I'm amazed that in…

Shell Broadband potential fake introductory offers
I am posting to share my experiences with Shell broadband given they have many discounted broadband offers available at the moment and to warn people that those offers may not be as generous as they seem. I signed up with them for a £20.99 18 month contract inclusive of VAT. The set up and on boarding went smoothly and the…

FTTP routing
Noticed they are starting the roll out of FTTP in my area and saw cables lying in the street as it was being installed. So how is it routed to the house? Do they dig channels? How long before we get offered the product how fast and what price?. If we are already under contract do we get offered an upgrade?.

BB & mobile inflation plus contracts
I can't understand why this is not picked up more. Most mobile and broadband companies offer duration based contracts and reserve the right to increase prices. However their increase is predetermined as CPI or RPI PLUS another percentage - usually around 3-4%. Why is there no campaign to stop this inflation plus…

Virgin Media Price Increase

I'm not sure why but a friend mentioned likely due to intial discounts no longer applicable. Apparently if you notice straight away and call them they put it…

Broadband and Landline for Elderly
My Grandmothers Broadband/phone contract is due to expire. We need the WiFi for security cameras and we need the landline as she has an emergency fall service. The current provider has her registered as a priority service user due to her mobility issues, do all providers have to provide this service?

Shell broadband account credit
Used an MSE link a couple of months ago to get fibre. I knew I should have taken a screen shot and I have written the info down somewhere but like it says on the current deals there was an account credit due (I think £80) with a certain time frame. This hasn’t materialised and there’s no info about it on any…

Virgin broadband help
i am looking at an offer for broadband from Virgin. The MS page shows an offer that includes a 02 sim but I cannot discover the plan that this refers too . In speaking to Virgin they will only talk about their plan which is considerably more than quoted on the MS page. Any body know how to get the info required?

Long-standing intermittent poor line now with Sky
So, as the title , I've been paying for a landline for years that everyone tells me they can't hear me. So, I really need to have decent phones due to my health. But over the years, all that's has happened , is that the company sends an engineer, the last time they did a test inside and said it's fine. I've told them it's…

Vodafone Fibre to the property + CityFibre and my experience
This is my experience with it and I am posting it so that if someone is considering it in the future and they Google Vodafone fibre broadband they may see this and it could help inform them on their choices. TL;DR - Vodafone/CityFibre customer service is pretty bad and their internet is incredibly patchy and unreliable. I…

In my home I have a landline phone system installed by BT many years ago. The main phone cable enters into the house and my home is wired to provide extension landline phone sockets on the wall of pretty much every room. So for many years I've been able to plug in landline phones everywhere. A few years ago I signed up to…

Any supplier not adding CPI + 3.5% to contracts?
It looks like this is the latest attempt to squeeze more out of us. So far I have tried BT, Plusnet, TalkTalk, Shell Energy. They all add this huge increase to your “fixed price 😄” contract every March. The % added to CPI varies. TalkTalk add 3.7%. That’s currently an extra 13.6%. Is anyone still offering a genuine fixed…

TalkTalk Fibre update _ my experience
They wrote to me offering Fibre upgrade, "no change to cost, contract or add ons." I know they have to do this at some point, so why not. We agreed a date, Openreach used rods to thread the cable a very long distace (50m) whilst the copper was still in place, which was just as well because there were problems at their end…
