Stick with FTTC or jump to FTTP?
I'm out of contract with Plusnet and I'll be moving home in the next 2-3 weeks. FTTP is available at the new property. I've looked around for deals for FTTC and FTTP, and have narrowed it down to: * NOW - FTTC - 40Mb/10Mb - 12 months - £20/month (I've heard the supplied router might be naff and the SR203 is worth buying as…

Vodafone won’t disconnect account
Hello i am selling my house and when I rang up to inform them was told it takes a minimum of 30 days to disconnect my broadband and phone account. My problem is this means the new owner could plug in a phone and rack up a huge phone bill which they would charge me for. Is it right they can refuse to disconnect me for so…

Broadband + phone options - should I change to Voip?
My BT contract comes to an end in January and will increase from £28.53 to £33.53 per month, so I'm looking for other options for 'telephone' + broadband. Telephone access is important, but I'm a low user and use a 18185 over-ride number which usually costs a few quid a month, unless I need to use a helpline. However 18185…

Vodaphone sign up queries
Hi Can any one help? I signed up for Vodaphone broadband on their website and was expecting them to ask at some point for my bank details to either pay up front (for the full term of my contract) or by Direct Debit monthly. To my surprise I wasn't asked for anything like that. I've received an email confirming my order and…

End of Virgin Contract and notice period
Just received the Virgin reminder that contract expires 27th Nov 2022. Definitely want to switch providers as they don't provide the service I pay for. Looking at the email it states have to give 30 days notice. Surely if contract is expiring, you can just cancel on that date? Am I incorrect?

Vodafone Full Fibre 900
Hi, I currently enjoy BT Halo 3. Speed 67Mbps and reliability are good. No complaints. £41.52 / month I have £200 penalty to leave. I have been offered Vodaphone Full Fibre. Speed 910Mbps. £30.00 / month. New 24 month contract with £200 Amazon voucher. Seems like a good deal. I would appreciate any advice before I commit?

Changing Provider and retaining email address
My road is being dug up for fibre broadband and I am being offered a FTP. The package being offered is very tempting. I am told I can retain my email (I know there are options like gmail but I don't want to change my aol - lots of contacts) I always thought it had to die with the old provider unless you paid to keep it.…

Sky hub delivery - can it be delivered to alternative address?
Hi, I thought this would be a very typical issue for many home movers but could not find relevant information so I would like to post here. I am moving to new home next month and sorting out broadband before moving in. Sky broadband seems good (and Uswitch deal would give me GBP 100 gif card) and they do not need engineer…

Negotiating with PlusNet Broadband Renewals - Tactics That Work
Hi, I've been with PlusNet (BB and Phone) for years. No
complaints. solid 36MB FTTC. Good customer service. End of an 18 month contract and I was quoted £41.75 to renew (November 2022). Phone the 'thinking of
leaving' line and got that down to 23.99/mo (18 months) + price escalator.
That's the price new customers pay.…

Shell Broadband 3 months free
I signed my parents up to Shell Broadband following using the broadband comparison tool on this website. This website said you get 3 months free line rental which is added as a credit to the account within the first 2 weeks. It's almost at the 2 week mark but when I go to the bill section of the Shell Energy account it…

Can fibre broadband be slower than copper?
I've just been offered an upgrade to BT Fibre 1 broadband at marginally less (and with no activation or upgrade fees) than I'm currently paying for broadband (presumably over copper to at least the local cabinet). I'm a bit bemused though, as they've stated I'll get 50Mbps download and 10Mbps upload, with a minimum…

EE Auto Compensation Capped at 60 Days - FFTP Install Issues
Hello A few months ago we signed up for EE FFTP as it became available to the property we rent. After a big (understatement of the year) palava and delays due to Wayleaves it got installed 87 days after it should have. The issue wasn't with obtaining wayleaves, that got agreed with our housing association within 2 weeks -…

BT landline only deals
My elderly mother is about to move into assisted living where you can only have BT landline and/or broadband. Not sure how this can be but I’ve checked and it’s definitely correct. She’s currently got a £21 deal (broadband and landline) with John Lewis/Plus Net which she can’t transfer even tho they are all the same…

Contract expired but potentially moving home
My phone and broadband contract has ended with Sky. I'm still with them but my monthly cost has jumped up. Normally I'd hop on a new deal, but I'm potentially moving home in the next 12 months or so. Is there any benefit to not being on a contract when moving home? I think most places let you port your deal don't they…

Does this seem like a good deal from BT?
Hi folks, After the last few months problems with Talktalk, I am finally ready to jump ship, Just wondering does this seem like a good deal form BT? the 500mbits package for £30.99. Another thing I consider important is engineer call out charges if they say it's my equipment's fault. I don't want any package lower than 150…

Which isp won't use crummy tactics against me?
I was late for payment, I made a mistake with my budgeting and my Plusnet payment didn't go through. It's been A DAY and they blocked my WiFi, the only options when I try to connect are a Plusnet website saying 'pay now' or 'I've already paid' or a phone no to phone. This is absolutely disgusting in my opinion, to treat me…

Does Virgin not charge for BB in advance?
I have just cancelled my 18 month Virgin Home BB contract by phone by giving them the required 30 days notice as my contract ends on 04/12/2022. I was told they would be taking a final payment of £23.95 on 23/11. When I queried this I was told that Virgin charge in arrears. From what I remember, and it was 17 months ago…
