New broadband provider company
Has anyone heard of Lightspeed? Its a new full-fibre company so there is no feedback or reviews. Serves East of England only. I don't know whether to jump the BT ship.

Inflation rip off
How have offcom allowed providers to charge inflation plus 3.9% and never less than 3.9% increase? No wonder underlying inflation is so high.

Get broadband 'new customer' deals by switching householder named in the account?
I live with my partner and our broadband contract is up for renewal. Better deals are available to new customers than existing ones, even after haggling. Could we obtain the new customer price if I close my account and my partner sets one up in her name? And in principle could you keep doing this forever by swapping…

Social Tariff at Virgin Media
Hi All, I know that certain broadband providers offer social tariffs, including Virgin Media… I’m currently with VM and thinking about asking to move to a social tariff. However, I receive ESA and PIP, I don’t receive Universal Credit. Their website only specifies UC. Has anyone on here been able to get onto their social…

Wanting to get out of contract, this method has likely been thought of before but worth asking
Some backstory: About 8 months ago I was able to negotiate my FTTC contract down to £26.99 with BT. Looking back it was likely stupid to do this and just keep out of contract but they wanted £34.99 each month outside of it. At the time no company would really beat £26.99 especially with the extra hassle/landline included…

Virgin Broadband: Haven't got an official email yet but called up to find out..
And I'm going from £26/month to £33/month. I'm not going to stay and we've recently gotten fiber at my location so I'm tempted to go for that, how soon could I get out of my contract, do I need to wait for the email to be sent? Or could I contact them and give them notice etc?

Sky Fibre/Broadband current April 2023 price rise advice thread
So I only signed up with sky 6 months ago after leaving virgin. I see on the deal finder its currently £25 per month with a voucher for Ultrafast. Currently im paying £32 for that same package and its set for a £3 per month rise in April. Can I haggle a new deal based on the compare tool on this website? Or will sky say…

Do I need line rental?
I have FTTP and I'm very unclear about line rental - is it only relevant if I want to keep a landline telephone number? MSE suggests that broadband only (no line rental) deals are often more expensive. The advice is generally go for line rental even if you don't plug a phone in. Assuming it would be cheaper therefore, I…

3 5G router as just a modem?
Hi, I am considering trying the 3 5G broadband, but I would prefer to keep using my own router. It looks like on some pictures there is a WAN port on their router, does anyone know if you can use their box in 'modem mode' just to feed internet to my router. Its how I do it with Virgin router currently. Second, does anyone…

Three and BT broadband
So currently with BT and out of contract. Now £38 month for fibre 2 with landline going to £44 after April. Fibre to cabinet only so 15mb / 0.5mb if lucky. Thinking of going to three home broadband as mast at top of Road and giving up landlines. Question is, should three hike prices later how expensive is it to get…

No live landline connection - how to switch?
When I moved into this property I just transferred my Virgin package (phone and b/band) and didn't get the BT landline connected. Now I want to switch to a cheaper deal and have started "migrating" my emails to a gmail account but not sure how to go about getting the landline connection up and running. Do I get the…

Annual Broadband and Phone charges increases
I would like to call on OFCOM to stop these unnecessary annual
increases. Which?'s latest broadband survey has shown that BT Group,
which includes BT, EE and Plusnet, will be pushing ahead with 14.4 per cent
rises for many of their customers. The contract rises have been branded "hugely concerning" and
"difficult to…

Full Fibre (FTTP) - Choice of Providers
Fibre optic cable is currently being laid in new underground ducting outside my home by one of the smaller network providers ( Swish Fibre). They are already encouraging me to register for their Full Fibre ( FTTP) service once their network becomes active. My question is will I have a choice of ISP once the cable is laid…

Broadband Price Increases
Hi, how often are broadband companies allowed to increase prices? I am with Shell & they have increased my price twice in a year, the next one due in April. I have looked on the OFCOM site & can't find an answer on there. TIA, Andy.

Plusnet price increases even though Im in a contract
Hi, Im in a 24 month contract with Plusnet. Id assumed (probably wrongly) that the benefit of tying myself into a 24 month contract was that the price was fixed for those 24 months. I have another 8 months til my contract ends. Today Plusnet have said my price will be going up by 3.9%. Is that right? Thanks

Moving Home
I have just off the phone to Shell Energy whom I have my broadband service with s I'm moving property. They have informed me if I move I will no longer have superfast fibre and will have to drop to the lower speed band. Which is understandable due to different areas having different cabling. She then informed me not only…
