George Foreman
DD has bought me a George Foreman Grill for Christmas. Great, but what can I do with it? I've tried Grilled cheese sandwiches (the cheese didn't melt by the time the bread was well done) Bacon (didn't go crispy) I rarely buy chops or steaks so what can I do with it besides clean it up and repack it and regift it next year?

Ridiculous food spend...
I'm mortified by how much we seem to spend on food shopping. I think most of it seems to go on trips here and there to the food shops, so I'm going to start planning weekly meals again and hope that helps. One problem we always fall into with this though is that we run out of fresh fruit etc, what do people do then? Just…

Can you still buy segs and stick-on soles ?
Santa has very kindly given me 3 pairs of new shoes, so I am keen to protect them from too much wear. I remember as a child at school, adding segs to my brogues which helped them last (not really important then, I didn't buy them) but with the added advantage (well, to kids) they made a great noise .. even sparks at times.…

New Old style things you have learnt in 2015?
Hi all. I hope everyone had a lovely Christmas. I was thinking today about how far I have come over the years eg. cooking from scratch, growing veg, oldfashioned cleaning, budgeting, meal planning etc etc.... However I have read on here time and time again that people have fallen off the 'oldstyle wagon'. I wonder if it's…

John Lewis - Never knowingly undersold
The John Lewis website states: '..... Could members help me understand JL's policy as it operates on a day to day basis. Does that mean that if JL is offering a five year guarantee that the other retailer e.g. Currys, has to do likewise? If I see a product in say Curry's at a lower price and still want to buy from JL what…

The Xmas "oops" moments thread
I love Xmas and even the slight mess ups can't spoil the day, but I thought we could have a thread to share them on. Mine so far..... 1) I didn't take my glasses when I did the food shop and bought a turkey crown that looked the right size for 5. DH has just pointed out it says "Feeds 14" on the label (I will never be a…

Buying Chicken Instead of Turkey
Anyone else done this instead of the 'traditional" Xmas Turkey? I just like the taste of chicken much better.. I find Turkey can be a bit dry. Chicken with a bit of Cranberry sauce is lush ! Plus it is about a quarter of the price of these overpriced Turkeys.. ka-ching !!
