O/S Daily Christmas Day Friday 25 December 2015

This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine

Morning everyone

Merry Christmas x

Hugs to those that want/need them x Thinking of Csarina and Elona x

Not quite sure why DH and I are awake and enjoying first peaceful cuppas and boys are both still in their pits - although I can hear movement from DS2's room. Had one of the nights' where I don't sleep very well - so have been downstairs since 4.15am - I suspect there's quite a lot of parents with littlies in that situation too! Our boys were really good and the earliest Christmas morning we had was about 6.30am when they were little. Upside of being up early though is that I've got all the prep done to where I want it, and added to what I got done last night I'm happy with where I'm up too. The work now is just cooking everything and getting all ready at the same time, and dished up hot.

Yesterday I got home from nail appointment and whilst there was talking to the nail technician and was saying about how I was unhappy with the frill round my xmas cake and she said did I realise that the Party Shop next door to the Nail Bar has a large room at the back filled with cake baking accessories and said to try there for a frill. So went in once nails were done, and couldn't find anything, so asked and they said they'd had some, but thought they might be sold out, but looked and found me the last one! So pleased, all in situ on the cake so much happier, as it looked such a botch job with the ribbon.

Hope everyone has a peaceful day x

Thinking especially of those whose Christmas is overshadowed by sadness x

Keep safe and well x

Good morning all, I don't post often these days but I read often but today I wanted to wish you all a 'Happy Christmas' and I hope you all have a wonderful day!

Today I will be cooking Xmas dinner number two lol (we had the first last Sun). My timings are all worked out/ my veg is all done and ready to cook in the fridge / even my cheese sauce is cooked in the fridge ready to microwave up and pour over my cauliflower / table is set/ puds ready to microwave up.........I am determined to have as much time as possible for myself today

    How about everyone else?
  • Morning one and all. A very Happy Christmas to everybody. I can't believe it, I actually slept (albeit intermittently) until 6.30!! Just enjoying my first coffee of the day. I am waiting for Mr TA to get up before I start opening any presents. We look to have loads, it'll take us forever!

Everything prepped yesterday and waiting to go in the respective pans and roasting dishes etc. No rush as we are not eating until about 2.00. Mr TA is picking DS up around 12.00 but his partner is working the lunchtime shift. She expects her last call to be finished by 1.15 and then coming straight here. Her boys are going to their dads for Xmas dinner.

DD is also working from 2.00 this afternoon so she is dropping the girls off at their dads for Xmas lunch on her way. I am expecting lots of pics WhatsApped shortly of them opening their mountain of presents!

Our road down into town was closed most of the day yesterday because of a fatal accident in the early hours. A head on crash in which a taxi driver was killed and someone else is in intensive care. Another arrested for dangerous driving. What terrible news for the families concerned right before Christmas.

Have a wonderful day everyone! Thinking of those of you for whom Christmas won't be festive this year ((((((HUGS)))))) where wanted/needed. Especially CSARINA and FLOSS. Take care all xx

Wishing you all a lovely Christmas, hope you enjoy your day🎄🎁. I know that for some today will be hard so sending hugs(((hugs))) especially csarina & floss.

Wide awake at a ridiculous time this morning. Got told yesterday that I wasn't welcome to go over to sdd, this morning so will spend the morning on my own whilst dh takes the presents over. I'm quite upset about it, but want the littles still to have their presents and it's an hours drive each way. I've told dh he must
    Go with my blessing.

Enjoy the rest of your day. Take care.
  • Good morning all. Daily lurker here just dropping in to say :santa2:
    Merry Christmas.

I hope everyone has a wonderful day. My thoughts and prayers for all for whom today will be difficult for any reason.

  • Morning all

TT, how horrible for you, why are people so unkind.

    Hugs to Csarina & Floss.

Nothing special much being done here, no presents to open, hubby bought me a floor steamer at my request & I used it yesterday.

One of my DD's it taking me out for a meal & I'm seeing my other children over the next few days.

I will be doing a Christmas dinner with pigs in blankets at about 3 o'clock, it's the only part of Christmas hubby enjoys.

The fish have been fed, hubby has a cuppa in bed, he didn't sleep well last night.

I've folded the washing off the maiden but won't put it away until hubby gets up.

    Have a lovely day everyone.

    Hugs Hester
    Chin up, Titus out.

I can hear movement and going to have a quick shower before getting dressed and going downstairs.

Stockings are on the kitchen table and we are having smoked salmon and scrambled eggs for breakfast. Later we meet another dd in York before doing a treasure hunt there then coming back to cook.

    Topsy

That is so not nice of her but at least you know that "you" behaved with dignity and consideration especially at this time of year.

    Csarina and Floss

Gentle hugs and thinking of you both.

Hugs to all and as happy a Christmas as possible.

    Merry Christmas everyone,

A very relaxed start to the day, just me, DH and DS who arrived at 1.00 this morning. DH and DS are just going out to walk up Pikedaw to Malham Cove, I'm quite looking forward to a peaceful time pottering around. I've not a lot to do, just the potatoes and parsnips and the pigs in blankets and it won't take long for just the three of us.

Topsy, words fail me, how people can be so horrible at Christmas time (or at any time come to that).

Csarina and Elona (and anyone else grieving or sad) I hope the day holds some happiness for you.

    Hi all,

Topsy - what a nasty thing to do to you X

To those who are having a less than Merry Christmas, my thoughts are with you X

I didn't,t get to bed till 3 am, as DS2 had phoned DS1 at 2am,ish and DS1 said he was crying, but on his way home - so I waited up, only to find DS2 hadn,t been crying, he had lost his voice and was just 'squeaky' and had phoned just to let his brother know he,d be later than expected due to buses - Hmmm

We are opening gifts later today when DD finishes work, taken MIL to Church, placed some flowers on FIL,s grave, and cooked scrambles eggs with smoked salmon on toasted muffins - yummmm - full Christmas dinner about 4.

Whatever your doing today, I wish you peace X
