I love Xmas and even the slight mess ups can't spoil the day, but I thought we could have a thread to share them on.
Mine so far.....
1) I didn't take my glasses when I did the food shop and bought a turkey crown that looked the right size for 5. DH has just pointed out it says "Feeds 14" on the label (I will never be a quantity surveyor)
2) DS2 asked me to help him make a peanut butter cake for his girl friend as she had said it was her favourite. It was only when we were mixing up the icings - one peanut butter and the other chocolate and peanut butter - that we realised that the only person in our family who likes peanut butter is DH and he was out. DS2, DD and me all had to keep tasting it with screwed up faces to see if it was sweet enough! We were all a bit green by the end, but it looks fab and I'm sure she will love it!
How's everyone else getting on?

Haha!
1) I've just had a maaive fight with a giant local smoked ham to get it into the slow cooker. I won, just
2) Doubt I have enough carrots (how can 2 people and a few extra eat 2 kg a week..I blame it on all that coleslaw and soup). Anyway I've julienned them instead of roasting then in chunks.
3) And I've still not bacon wrapped my pigs yet.
4)Lastly we've managed to drink a bottle of red wine between us followed by a wee Bailies
Doubt we'll be up that early now!0 -
DH decided to fix the cistern on the upstairs toilet yesterday as the overflow was dripping. He seems to have made it worse and at one point we had water coming through the kitchen ceiling!
I'm hoping the ceiling doesn't come down while I'm cooking lunch today.0 -
None at all.. I've been a perfect old-styler and got it all prepped and panned and cooking in record time .. Should all be on the table at 5 then bath and bed for smalls!!

Christmas veg haven't done so well being bought on Monday as I was then working until midday Christmas Eve. Half the green beans were rotten so now well trimmed and as for the yellowing broccoli, that's been painted with green food colouring to try and cheer it up!Mortgage, we're getting there with the end in sight £6587 07/23, otherwise free of the debt thanks to MSE help!0

I planned on having the meal on the table at 2.... When we should have been eating a light breakfast we were at our daughters. Of course, hubby could have made himself a slice of toast or something whilst i was getting ready but no....
By the time we got home he was starving and dinner wasnt anywhere near cooked.... so hubby mentioned bacon and eggs...This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
I got drunk. Luckily after dinner. In any case it doesn't matter as I was only cooking for me0

Remembered just as we finished eating dinner, that the peas were still sitting in the saucepan waiting to be served. Must have been enough veg as no one noticed their absence.Sealed pot challenge member 4370

I mis-set the overflow fridge temperature.
Our defrosting joint? Didn't. Ach, lunch around midday is overrated & bags for life make great soak bags. Which helped some but the microwave fixed it...
However, the power of email got two other cooks to check their fridges & it Wasn't Just Me!0 -
Feeling a bit worse for wear even though I haven't overdosed on the goodies. Not even enjoying my favourite Coronation Street.Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!
