beefin ale or red wine?

Options
hi, ive got a fair bit of stewing steak to cook up, which is best to slow cook in red wine or ale? I'm halving it and adding kidney to use for pies too!! will add the usual onions and mushrooms and herbs.

Red wine for me, every time. Although if you've got lots, you could do both.

Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.

I would say do both too! I like both red wine and ale with beef!

I too like both! But all depending on the ale, sometimes it can have a slightly bitter taste - (I'll use any beer/ale I've got in :) ) if so, I sweeten it a little to taste 10 minutes before the end of cooking :)

I tend to use ale more, wine never seems to last long enough around here :o :rotfl:
  • Which have you already opened?

You could use ginger wine too if you have any, for a nice chinese-y taste.
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
