Can you still buy segs and stick-on soles ?

Santa has very kindly given me 3 pairs of new shoes, so I am keen to protect them from too much wear.

I remember as a child at school, adding segs to my brogues which helped them last (not really important then, I didn't buy them) but with the added advantage (well, to kids) they made a great noise .. even sparks at times.

Anyway .. can you still buy these segs in the high street ?

Yes, i am sure cobblers sell them, but they always seem expensive to me, for what they do. My daughter asked me to take in a pair of her 'party high heels' for new tips, which cost £22.

They are probably available online, but was just wondering if they are available in the high street.

What about stick on soles ... Have they also gone out of favour ?

Do you put them on yourself? Do they really extend the life of shoes?

OH wears brogues for work and I think gets through three pairs a year so I'm following with interest.
  • I used to work with someone who wore Blakey's. He used to drive me mental........tip tap tip tap tip tap click clack click clack click clack whenever he did any walking. Which was a lot as he worked as a porter.
