Homemade pasta help
I was thrilled to acquire my Lakeland pasta maker from ebay, and knew that it might be tricky at first, but my first try was an unmitigated disaster! I duly made the dough, and started the process of feeding it through the machine. Each time there was no problem with the first, thickest settings, but I could NOT get it to…

Cling Film dispensers and kids
Hi seems like a daft problem, but its costing me a fortune, lol. I buy cling film from various supermarkets and within a couple of days the kids have either broken the box or managed to tear off the cutting strip thereby making using the cling v difficult and I usually end up wrestling with it before finally giving up and…

How Do You Do It?
I used to be very regular on this board and MSE in general but since having my baby 6 weeks ago all I manage to do is the washing!! I have recently bought a double compartment slow cooker, it's great but need to use a bit more…

Hi all, We had 'carrot ribbons' with a russian meal at a restaurant a month or so back & I was going to try the same again tonight to use up some carrots with our roast. Bread problem
I hope that someone can advise. I have some Tesco strong white bread flour....bought when on offer. When I use it in my Panasonic bread maker...using the recipe for the white and the 50/50wholemeal which I have used for years...the resulting loaf sinks down a bit on the top and the texture is waxy. I usually use Lidl's…

Odd smell from cooking vacuum packed meat...not off just...odd.
Bought a leg of vacuum-packed lamb from ALDI on Friday. Opened it up about an hour ago and it seemed fine. Nice and healthy colour, no usual smell that you get from vacuum packed meat. Put it in the Halogen oven and now an hour later there is an odd smell in the house. I can't put my finger on it. Never smelt it before.…

Cooking tips when you're feeling poorly
I'm recovering from radiotherapy and chemo. Because I've been bed/sofabound for a few weeks I'm very weak to the extent that even doing something simple like making a cuppa or feeding the cats leaves me out of breath. Because of this, we've been eating a mix of convenience foods and some home made that DD has cooked and…
